Sibanye rises as lithium, nickel mines get EU's strategic project status

** U.S.-listed shares of South African miner Sibanye Stillwater SSW rise 1.2% to $4.38

** European Commission designates its Keliber lithium project in Finland and GalliCam nickel project in France as "strategic projects" under the European Union (EU) Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA)

** CRMA aims to ensure that European extraction, processing and recycling of strategic raw materials meet 10%, 40% and 25% respectively of EU’s demand by 2030

** Keliber lithium project expected to start production during 1H26 and produce about 15,000 tonnes of battery-grade lithium hydroxide annually for at least 18 years, once it reaches full capacity

** GalliCam project currently in pre-feasibility stage, set to be completed during 2025

** Including session's moves, stock up 33.2% YTD
