Stochastic Zone Strength Trend [wbburgin](This script was originally invite-only, but I'd vastly prefer contributing to the TradingView community more than anything else, so I am making it public :) I'd much rather share my ideas with you all.) The Stochastic Zone Strength Trend indicator is a very powerful momentum and trend indicator that 1) identifies trend direction and strength, 2) determines pullbacks and reversals (including oversold and overbought conditions), 3) identifies divergences, and 4) can filter out ranges. I have some examples below on how to use it to its full effectiveness. It is composed of two components: Stochastic Zone Strength and Stochastic Trend Strength. Stochastic Zone Strength At its most basic level, the stochastic Zone Strength plots the momentum of the price action of the instrument, and identifies bearish and bullish changes with a high degree of accuracy. Think of the stochastic Zone Strength as a much more robust equivalent of the RSI. Momentum-change thresholds are demonstrated by the "20" and "80" levels on the indicator (see below image). Stochastic Trend Strength The stochastic Trend Strength component of the script uses resistance in each candlestick to calculate the trend strength of the instrument. I'll go more into detail about the settings after my description of how to use the indicator, but there are two forms of the stochastic Trend Strength: Anchored at 50 (directional stochastic Trend Strength): The directional stochastic Trend Strength can be used similarly to the MACD difference or other histogram-like indicators : a rising plot indicates an upward trend, while a falling plot indicates a downward trend. Anchored at 0 (nondirectional stochastic Trend Strength): The nondirectional stochastic Trend Strength can be used similarly to the ADX or other non-directional indicators : a rising plot indicates increasing trend strength, and look at the stochastic Zone Strength component and your instrument to determine if this indicates increasing bullish strength or increasing bearish strength (see photo below): (In the above photo, a bearish divergence indicated that the high Trend Strength predicted a strong downwards move, which was confirmed shortly after. Later, a bullish move upward by the Zone Strength while the Trend Strength was elevated predicated a strong upwards move, which was also confirmed. Note the period where the Trend Strength never reached above 80, which indicated a ranging period (and thus unprofitable to enter or exit)). How to Use the Indicator The above image is a good example on how to use the indicator to determine divergences and possible pivot points (lines and circles, respectively). I recommend using both the stochastic Zone Strength and the stochastic Trend Strength at the same time, as it can give you a robust picture of where momentum is in relation to the price action and its trajectory. Every color is changeable in the settings. Settings The Amplitude of the indicator is essentially the high-low lookback for both components. The Wavelength of the indicator is how stretched-out you want the indicator to be: how many amplitudes do you want the indicator to process in one given bar. A useful analogy that I use (and that I derived the names from) is from traditional physics. In wave motion, the Amplitude is the up-down sensitivity of the wave, and the Wavelength is the side-side stretch of the wave. The Smoothing Factor of the settings is simply how smoothed you want the stochastic to be. It's not that important in most circumstances. Trend Anchor was covered above (see my description of Trend Strength). The "Trend Transform MA Length" is the EMA length of the Trend Strength that you use to transform it into the directional oscillator. Think of the EMA being transformed onto the 50 line and then the Trend Strength being dragged relative to that. Trend Transform MA Length is the EMA length you want to use for transforming the nondirectional Trend Strength (anchored at 0) into the directional Trend Strength (anchored at 50). I suggest this be the same as the wavelength. Trend Plot Type can transform the Nondirectional Trend Strength into a line plot so that it doesn't murk up the background. Finally, the colors are changeable on the bottom. Explanation of Zone Strength If you're knowledgeable in Pine Script, I encourage you to look at the code to try to understand the concept, as it's a little complicated. The theory behind my Zone Strength concept is that the wicks in every bar can be used create an index of bullish and bearish resistance, as a wick signifies that the price crossed above a threshold before returning to its origin. This distance metric is unique because most indicators/formulas for calculating relative strength use a displacement metric (such as close - open) instead of measuring how far the price actually moved (up and down) within a candlestick. This is what the Zone Strength concept represents - the hesitation within the bar that is not typically represented in typical momentum indicators. In the script's code I have step by step explanations of how the formula is calculated and why it is calculated as such. I encourage you to play around with the amplitude and wavelength inputs as they can make the zone strength look very different and perform differently depending on your interests. Enjoy! Walker

(Sun Tzu - The Art of War) ▮ Introduction The Stochastic Momentum Index (SMI) is a technical analysis indicator that uses the difference between the current closing price and the high or low price over a specific time period to measure price momentum. On the other hand, the Money Flow Index (MFI) is an indicator that uses volume and price to measure buying and selling pressure. When these two indicators are combined, they can provide a more comprehensive view of price direction and market strength. ▮ Improvements By combining SMI with MFI, we can gain even more insights into the market. One way to do this is to use the MFI as an input to the SMI, rather than just using price. This means we are measuring momentum based on buying and selling pressure rather than just price. Another way to improve this indicator is to adjust the periods to suit your specific trading needs. ▮ What to look When using the SMI MFI indicator, there are a few things to look out for. First, look at the SMI signal line. When the line crosses above -40, it is considered a buy signal, while the crossing below +40 is considered a sell signal. Also, pay attention to divergences between the SMI MFI and the price. If price is rising but the SMI MFI is showing negative divergence, it could indicate that momentum is waning and a reversal could be in the offing. Likewise, if price is falling but the SMI MFI is showing positive divergence, this could indicate that momentum is building and a reversal could also be in the offing. In the examples below, I show the use in conjunction with the price SMI, in which the MFI SMI helps to anticipate divergences: In summary, the SMI MFI is a useful indicator that can provide valuable insights into market direction and price strength. By adjusting the timeframes and paying attention to divergences and signal line crossovers, traders can use it as part of a broader trading strategy. However, remember that no indicator is a magic bullet and should always be used in conjunction with other analytics and indicators to make informed trading decisions.

"The Stocashi" - Stochastic RSI + Heikin-AshiWhat up guys and welcome to the coffee shop. I have a special little tool for you today to throw in your toolbox. This one is a freebie. This is the Stochastic RS-Heiken-Ashi "The Stocashi" This is the stochastic RSI built to look like Heikin-Ashi candles. a lot of people have trouble using the stochastic indicator because of its ability to look very choppy at its edges instead of having nice curves or arcs to its form when you use it on scalping time frames it ends up being very pointed and you can't really tell when the bands turn over if you're using a stochastic Ribbon or you can't tell when it's actually moving in a particular direction if you're just using the K and the D line. This new format of Presentation seeks to get you to have a better visual representation of what the stochastic is actually doing. It's long been noted that Heikin-Ashi do a very good job of representing momentum in a price so using it on something that is erratic as the stochastic indicator seems like a plausible idea. The strategy is simple because you use it exactly the same way you've always used the stochastic indicator except now you can look for the full color of the candle. this one uses a gradient color setup for the candle so when the candle is fully red then you have a confirmed downtrend and when the candle is fully green you have a confirmed up trend of the stochastic however if, you a combination of the two colors inside of one candle then you do not have a confirmed direction of the stochastic. the strategy is simple for the stochastic and that you need to know your overall trend. if you are in an uptrend you are waiting for the stochastic to reach bottom and start curving up. if you are in a downtrend you are waiting for the stochastic to reach its top or its peak and curve down. In an uptrend you want to make sure that the stochastic is making consistently higher lows just like price should be. if at any moment it makes a lower low then you know you have a problem with your Trend and you should consider exiting. The opposite is true for a downtrend. In a downtrend you want to make sure you have lower highs. if at any given moment you end up with a higher high than you know you have a problem with your Trend and it's probably ending so you should consider exiting. The stochastic indicator done as he can actually candles also does a very good job of telling you when there is a change of character. In that moment when the change of character shows up you simply wait until your trend and your price start to match up. You can also use the stochastic indicator in this format to find divergences the same way you would on the relative strength index against your price highs and price lows so Divergence trading is visually a little bit easier with this tool. The settings for the K percent D percent RSI length and stochastic length can be adjusted at will so be sure to study the history of the stochastic and find the good settings for your trading strategy.

Strength of Divergence Across Multiple IndicatorsOverview: One-stop shop for all your divergence needs, including: (1) A single metric for divergence strength across multiple indicators. (2) Labels that make it easy to spot where the truly strong divergence is by showing the overall divergence strength value along with the number of divergent indicators. Hovering over the label shows a breakdown of each divergent indicator and its individual divergence strength value. (3) Fully customizable, including inputs for pivot lengths, divergence types, and weights for every component of the divergence strength calculation. This allows you to quickly and easily optimize the output for any chart. Don't worry, the default settings will have you covered if you're not interested in what's going on under the hood. The Divergence Strength Calculation: The total divergence strength value is the sum of the divergence strengths of all indicators for which divergence was detected at a given bar. Each indicator's individual divergence strength is comprised of two basic components: (1) |ΔPrice| - the magnitude of the change in price over the divergence period (pivot-to-pivot), and (2) |ΔIndicator| - the magnitude of the change in indicator value over the divergence period. Because different indicators' scales and volatility can vary greatly, the Δ values are expressed in terms of standard deviation to ensure that the values are meaningful and equitable across all indicators and assets/instruments/currency pairs, etc: |ΔIndicator| = |indicator_value_1 - indicator_value_2| / 2 * StDev(indicator_series,100) Calculation Weights: All components of the calculation are weighted and can be modified on the Inputs page in settings (weights are simply multipliers). For example, if you think hidden divergence should carry less weight than regular divergence, you can assign it a lesser weight. Or if you think RSI divergence is worth more than OBV divergence, you can adjust their weights accordingly. List of weights: Regular divergence weight - default = 1 Hidden divergence weight - default = 1 ΔPrice weight - default = 0.5 (multiplied by the ΔPrice component) ΔIndicator weight - default = 1.5 (multiplied by the ΔIndicator component) RSI weight - default = 1.1 OBV weight - default = 0.8 MACD weight - default = 0.9 STOCH weight - default = 0.9 Development for additional indicators is ongoing, as is research into the optimal weight configuration(s). Stochastic with DivergencesReuploading as there was an issue with the description. This indicator uses the popular Stochastic indicator as its base. I have included the ability to draw divergences on the indicator as they occur live. By default it will be off, select the settings for the indicator and about halfway down there will be a dropdown menu that says "Off". Select it and then select which divergences you want to draw: Regular, Hidden, or Both. I like to draw both. I find that hidden divergence is really nice during a trending market and the regular divergence is works great in a range market. I also feel that the regular divergence is great during a trending market if you are given the signal but then wait for the next price movement for a double top/bottom to occur. The Stochastic indicator itself is often used in a ranging market by selling when it is overbought and buying once it indicates oversold (much like the RSI indicator). I find that it can work in trending markets if you only take overbought in a down trend and oversold in an up trend. In the above picture you can see that I had used it to trade this downtrend using both the Hidden Divergence and Sell Signals to catch the trend continuation until it failed on the fourth trade. From here I would usually start using the Stochastic as simply an oscillating indicator and buy/sell based on overbought/oversold. I've also added an option to enable the Stochastic RSI if you'd rather use that, as well as a fill option which simply colors in the space between the Stochastic and Signal lines. The Signals option will put on highlights of when to buy or sell based on overbought/oversold areas that agree with the long term trend (based on the 200 EMA). Divergence is a short way of saying there was a higher or lower movement compared to normal but the price did not represent that movement, indicating strength or weakness in a specific direction. Regular divergence is an indication of a trend reversal. Regular bullish divergence occurs when the price chart shows a lower low while the stochastic shows a higher low. Regular bearish divergence occurs when the price chart shows a higher high while the stochastic shows a lower high. Hidden divergence is an indication of a trend continuation. Hidden bullish divergence occurs when the price chart shows a higher low while the stochastic shows a lower low. Hidden bearish divergence occurs when the price chart shows a lower high while the stochastic shows a higher high. The "Only Trending Divergences" option, if enabled, will only show bearish divergences during a down trend (price is below 200 EMA) and only show bullish divergences during an uptrend (price is above 200 EMA). I like to use this option and have set it to ON by default. The "Middle Filter" option, if enabled, ensures that Highs on the stochastic indicator will not be counted as Highs unless they are above the middle value of the oscillator (which is 50), same goes for lows: they will not be counted as Lows unless they are below the middle value of the oscillator. I also include buy/sell signals that coincide with the trend (based on the 200 EMA). If price is currently below the 200 EMA and the stochastic indicator is overbought (over 80), you can get a sell signal when it the blue line crosses down below 80. This sell signal shows that you are in a down trend and the price just was overbought but is now likely to continue pushing downwards. The opposite works for buy signals: Above 200 EMA, stochastic goes below 20, when it crosses above 20 it will show a green highlight to indicate price is likely to push upwards. I think the default options are likely the best to use. The only one I tend to change on occasion is the "Pivots to look back" which I adjust usually to either 1 or 3.

Ehlers Adaptive Stochastic Indicator V1 [CC]The Adaptive Stochastic Indicator V1 was created by John Ehlers (Rocket Science For Traders pgs 233-234) and this indicator uses the same calculations to find a cycle period that is then used for both the creation of the stochastic indicator but also for the smoothing to create a double smoothed stochastic indicator. Because it is calculated this way, this indicator is more reactive than almost any other stochastic indicator and provides clear buy and sell signals especially when the underlying stock is trending. It is interpreted in the same way as a normal stochastic indicator so great buy signals are when the indicator is below the oversold line and starts to move up and vice versa. Buy when the line turns green and sell when it turns red. Let me know if there are any other indicators you would like to see me publish!

L1 Multidimensional KDJLevel: 1 Background The KDJ oscillator display consists of 3 lines (K, D and J - hence the name of the display) and 2 levels. K and D are the same lines you see when using the stochastic oscillator. The J line in turn represents the deviation of the D value from the K value. The convergence of these lines indicates new trading opportunities. Just like the Stochastic Oscillator, oversold and overbought levels correspond to the times when the trend is likely to reverse. Function L1 Multidimensional KDJ utilizes multiple KDJ modeling across multiple time frames. In this instance, it covers three time frames as day, week and month. Although it is named like that, one can deduce and use it in small time frames e.g. 15mins (day), 60mins (week) and 4H (month) because KDJ oscillator is commonly used for small time frames across various markets. It may satruate for extreme conditions of long and short. 2. Not accurate for long and short entries by resonance effect. Remarks Bring about multiple time frames into consideration of KDJ is novel. Level 3 : comprehensive indicator/strategy. They are simple trading systems based on my strategies. They are commonly containing several or all of entry signal, close signal, stop loss, take profit, re-entry, risk management, and position sizing techniques. Even some interesting fundamental and mass psychological aspects are incorporated. Level 4 : script snippets or functions that do not disclose source code. Interesting element that can reveal market laws and work as raw material for indicators and strategies. If you find Level 1~2 scripts are helpful, Level 4 is a private version that took me far more efforts to develop. Level 5 : indicator/strategy that do not disclose source code. private version of Level 3 script with my accumulated script processing skills or a large number of custom functions. I had a private function library built in past two years. Level 5 scripts use many of them to achieve private trading strategy.

This happens to be my first open source indicator, hope you all enjoy it! Description This indicated is ported from November 2019 issue of TASC. “The Stochastic MACD Oscillator” in this issue, author Vitali Apirine introduces a new indicator created by combining the stochastic oscillator and the MACD . He describes the new indicator as a momentum oscillator and explains that it allows the trader to define overbought and oversold levels similar to the classic stochastic but based on the MACD . Options -You can enable bar coloration for trade state (signal conditions setup in the "long" and "short" variables). -You can choose histogram or columns for the convergence/divergence display. -You can turn on/off and adjust the overbought / oversold zones. -You can choose what type of moving average to use in the calculation from a small selection of options.
