Proof of Stake: Seeking validation?

When it comes to protecting crypto, consensus is everything. These algorithms build on the Proof of Work (PoW) concept by moving the responsibility of authenticating block transactions from miners to the coin holders themselves. Favoring those that have a ‘stake’ in the crypto, Proof of Stake (PoS) is considered an attractive alternative to the resource-heavy PoW approach. Instead of chewing up energy and computing power, PoS uses stakeholder resources, significantly cutting down carbon emissions. Once transactions start, the information is added to a new block and spread throughout the chain’s distributed network. This is then verified through assigned nodes who finish out the computational puzzle, with the first one to crack the puzzle receiving an award. Considered the future of crypto by many, PoS coins are greener, and secured through incentivization.

This list is made up of cryptos in the top 100 ranking in terms of market capitalization that use PoS models, including blockchains that use an iteration of a PoS model, like Polkadot's nominated proof-of-stake (NPoS). We've picked theses symbols based on two criterium: our recognition of its reputation based on coverage in crypto-related spaces, and time spent in the top 100. It's also noteworthy that this list does not include hybrids of PoW and PoS.
