The Maldives Monetary Authority commenced the Overnight Deposit Facility for the commercial banks on 23rd March 2010, whereby banks can place their excess funds at the MMA overnight. This facility carries the lowest rate in the system, below the deposit rate offered to commercial banks' customers. The ODF rate is 1.5% per annum, effective 1st September 2014.
