TAURON Polska Energia SA is a holding company, which engages in the distribution, generation, and supply of electricity and heat. It operates through the following segments: Renewable Energy Sources, Generation, Distribution, Sales and Other Operations. The Renewable Energy Sources segment includes electricity generation from renewable energy sources, such as hydroelectric power plants and wind farms. The Generation segment produces electricity and heat using coal, gas, biomass, and cogeneration systems. The Distribution segment handles distribution of electricity using distribution grids. The Sales segment sells electricity and gas to retail and business customers, and develops smart services. The Other Operations segment includes mining, customer service, IT, and financial operations. The company was founded on December 6, 2006 and is headquartered in Katowice, Poland.
