PCPC tracks an index of US-listed property and casualty (P&C) insurance companies. Companies that generate more than 15% of their total revenues from health and life insurance are excluded, along with conglomerates. The index selects firms based on fundamental factors, listings, and liquidity. It aims to identify the 20 most profitable insurance companies by considering factors such as the 3-year average return on equity (ROE) and the combined ratio. These companies are then weighted according to the inverse of their combined ratio. This ratio is calculated by summing claims expenses, underwriting expenses, and claims, then dividing by the net premiums earned. A combined ratio below 100% indicates underwriting profitability. The index is rebalanced and reconstituted annually in June, and constituent weight is capped at 10%. PCPC will generally use a replication strategy to achieve its objectives.
