Visualizing the Bitmex ArbitrageA handy trick for visualizing the arbitrage opportunity between Bitmex quarterly futures and spot is to input the equasion (XBTZ18-XBTUSD)/XBTUSD*100 into Tradingview. (You can substitute XBTZ18 for another quarterly symbol). I believe all account types can view this on the Daily resolution. Unfortunately historic data for all past quarterly futures contracts are not available for comparison but in the past the spread has become quite large and attractive for a "Cash and Carry" trade. At the high of 2017 the quarterly futures traded at an extreme of 21% premium. Shorting the quarterly futures when there is a positive premium at 1:1 leverage creates a virtual "stablecoin". If the value of Bitcoin goes up the short position goes down but at the same rate thus the nominal value of holdings remains the same. The inverse is true in a bearish market. As expiration approaches the two instruments will come to settle at parity meaning the premium received when the trade was entered will be realized. Not accounting for exchange default this is essentially a riskless trade. The risk profile does NOT work to the upside as if one is in a long futures position not only does the trade lose value but also the value of Bitcoin itself; losses are compounded. This trade is best used as a hedge and situational arbitrage.

$TRX #TRXZ18 - Quick Bitmex TA - Day Trader ExplainsHello Lads and Ladies, Bitmex TA nr4 TRX is looking pretty good. It broke all levels it needed to break. Sitting at 380, also 61.8% retracement. Lets close 2h at or above 380 and it will go mooning again. It is not a sell or sell off but simply people taking profits and then dumping a little to get a nice entry :P As I am not guilty of that and don't have torn.. You can buy some and take profits on the way to 400. Most likely 400 will break and we will spike to 414 again.. be ready.. The steps are.. pump near resistance, take profits because it was able to pump that high, now dump to reload, then pump again, liquidate resistance and stops at that point cheers TJ

BTC update : Surviving through Bitmex' overload Let's start with the daily Chart. The dump was awful as I really didn't expect this crazy PA. I succeeded to make a decent gain shorting ETH on from 219 to 202 (I could have close so much lower but with the Bitmex crazyness I'm just glad I didn't get fucked by the overload. So we did broke every support in order to go straight to 6K. I like the reaction we had and 6K is still a really strong support. I'm long with a shitty entry at 6160 but I will add more on the chop before we break either 6250 (weekly res) to 6400-6500 thanks to the classic momentum ignition algorithm aka BART - or drop for a real capitulation move under 5800. This long is really easy as it worked fine for me every time I went long at 6k support (until it isn't), just put a SL and get overleverage.

[May 18th/BITMEX] Bitcoin Trend Analysis $7683 - $8270/8500/8700Hello, guys. Sorry to postpone to upload it. In the morning, I wrote down it but I accidentally close the chrome. I was just mad XD. That is why I upload it now. 1. As you can see, the chart shows that it is still bearish . Today, I assume that it gonna be dropped til below 8050/7670 2. However, so far, I would say 60% confirmed below 8100 20% confirmed below 8000 15% confirmed below 7900 less than 5% confirmed below 7800 3. Long position; open orders $8050/7950/7850/7600 (~x15) Short position; Closed once Previous position $8270 and close $8181 Current position open orders $8230 and will close $8100/8050/8000 4. Reasons; 20/50/120 EMA lines are now resistance line. BB avg line, +1 line, +2 line are now resistance line as well. Need to push up to at least $8321. If it won't happen, it gonna dropping more.
