U.S. Grants TSMC Licence to Import U.S chipmaking tools in ChinaThe U.S. government has granted an annual licence to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (2330.TW), to import U.S. chip manufacturing equipment to its facilities in Nanjing, China, the chipmaker said on Thursday.
The approval "ensures uninterrupted fab operations and product deliveries," the company said in a statement to Reuters.
Previously, the Asian companies had benefited from exemptions from Washington's sweeping restrictions on chip-related exports to China, part of U.S. efforts to try to stay ahead of China in technological development.
But those privileges - known as validated end-user status - expired on December 31 and the companies had to seek U.S. export licences instead for 2026.
Technically, NYSE:TSM shares are up 2% in Friday's premarket session setting to break above the $313 resistance zone to capitalize on the bullish continution pattern.

TSM Bullish or Bearish?TSM (1H chart) is consolidating in a symmetrical triangle after a strong rally, with price hovering around the 20 EMA and MACD momentum flattening, suggesting a balance between bulls and bears; a breakout above the upper trendline could extend the uptrend toward the 290 area, while a breakdown below the lower boundary may trigger a pullback toward the 260 support zone.
Breaking: $TSM Surge 3% As Chipmaker's Results Top EstimatesThe price of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (NYSE: NYSE:TSM ) saw an uptick of 3%, after the world's largest contract chip manufacturer reported first-quarter results that topped analysts' estimates and stuck with its 2025 revenue outlook despite the growing trade war.
TSMC, which supplies tech heavyweights Apple (AAPL) and Nvidia (NVDA), registered earnings per share (EPS) of 13.94 New Taiwan dollars ($0.43) on revenue that rose 42% year-over-year to NT$839.25 billion ($25.85 billion). Analysts polled by Visible Alpha expected NT$13.61 and NT$835.92 billion, respectively.
The company projected second-quarter revenue of $28.4 billion to $29.2 billion. Analysts were looking for about $27.1 billion.
Shares of TSMC, which entered Thursday having lost nearly a quarter of their value in 2025, were up about 3.5% up in premarket session following the results.
CEO C.C. Wei said on the earnings call that the company understands:
"there are uncertainties and risk from the potential impact of tariff policies," according to a transcript provided by AlphaSense. "However, we have not seen any change in our customers' behavior so far. Therefore, we continue to expect our full-year 2025 revenue to increase by close to mid-20s percent in U.S. dollar terms."
Technical Outlook
As of the time of writing, NYSE:TSM is up 2.76% in Thursday's premarket session, with the last close RSI at 39.91, NYSE:TSM might be on the cusp of a breakout amidst the earnings beat. A break above the $180 resistant might clear the path to $200 zone albeit the stock market is still plaque with Trumps Tariff woes. Similarly, failure to break above that pivot could resort to a correction to the recent support point.
TSM respects levelsI have not looked at this chart in a long time. The levels are still holding up strong. It's in a rising channel. Currently it is weathering the channel well. Earnings 4/17 premarket. The day candle close 4/16 was bearish. Good earnings moves could change that.
*I just know that this company keeps semi & chips looking amazing for users & investors. I'll be watching and tuned in.
TSMC's $100 Billion U.S. InvestmentTaiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturer, has announced a massive $100 billion investment in U.S.-based chip production facilities. CEO C.C. Wei made the announcement alongside former President Donald Trump, marking a significant shift in global semiconductor manufacturing. This investment, which expands TSMC’s footprint in Arizona, is poised to reshape the competitive landscape of the semiconductor industry, but it also comes at a time of uncertainty in the stock market.
The Impact of TSMC’s Expansion
TSMC’s commitment to invest $100 billion will fund the construction of three new chip fabrication plants, two advanced packaging facilities, and a cutting-edge research and development center. This will bring the company’s total investment in its Arizona complex to $165 billion.
Former President Trump emphasized the importance of this investment, stating, “The most powerful AI chips in the world will be made right here in America. It’s a matter of economic security, and it’s also a matter of national security.”
Technical Analysis
In Tuesday’s trading session, NYSE:TSM showed signs of recovery, rising 1.78%. The stock is currently testing a critical one-month low support level. A break below this level could trigger a selling spree, especially given broader market weakness. However, technical indicators suggest potential for upside movement:
The stock is approaching oversold territory, indicating that selling pressure may be overextended. A rebound from this level could signal a reversal. Although NYSE:TSM is struggling near its short-term support, bullish momentum is gradually increasing. The 38.2% Fibonacci Retracement level is currently acting as resistance. A breakout above it would signal renewed bullish sentiment and could pave the way for further gains.
If NYSE:TSM can hold its support and break through resistance, traders may see a push toward higher retracement levels. Conversely, a failure to hold above support could lead to deeper losses, particularly if broader market sentiment remains negative.

TSM One more push left.Taiwan Semiconductor is on very balanced bullish levels on its 1D technical outlook (RSI = 61.134, MACD = 3.500, ADX = 22.596) as it is unfolding the latest bullish wave of the 4 month Channel Up. The previous one completed a +35% rise. We expect the current one to peak on the same levels, thus aim for the top of the Channel (TP = 240.00).

Technical Analysis
On the daily timeframe, TSM has remained above the EMA200 line for over a year, maintaining its bullish trend. On August 5, 2024, TSM rebounded impulsively from the EMA200 line after completing an ABC correction pattern, signaling the start of a new bullish wave.
The second and fourth corrective waves have retraced to the Fibonacci 0.382 and 0.618 golden ratios, respectively, aligning with Elliott Wave rules that typically indicate further upward movement.
In addition to the Elliott Wave analysis, a breakout from a Descending Broadening Wedge pattern has been identified. Such breakouts often signal the continuation of the prevailing market trend.
Therefore based on these technical analysis, I foresee a potential upward movement toward the first target at $217.85 or second target at 234.46
This outlook remains valid as long as the price holds above the stop-loss level at 177.95

$TSM textbook bull flag breakoutI originally entered calls at 181 when TSM wicked off of the bottom trendline and 100 Sma with nearly all momentum indicators signaling a reversal to the upside. I closed my positions at the top trendline as TSM continued to move upwards breaking out of the bull flag, intending to reenter when price retested this level. Well, we got that opportunity yesterday (Dec 6) and so I sized back in accordingly. Although the momentum indicators are at or close to overbought levels, I believe TSM has significant legs to push higher on this textbook bull flag. I intend to scale out at 205 and sell at 212 with a stop loss at 199.
TSM INV H&S- Weekly CallsNYSE:TSM - 4h showing an inverse head and shoulder patterns signaling a flip from sellers in control to buyers in control leading me to believe she can see more continuation throughout the week if 4h can continue to hold up healthy bullish price action. Will be looking ot take intraday breakouts to the upside throughout the week. Not so much interested in shorts at all UNLESS 4h happens to flip back bearish and begins to head for that GAP below.
Focus on demand in semiconductors, NVDA leading the way. While there are minor disputes among smaller semiconductor firms, the real focus should be on demand. NVDA is making tremendous strides in the data center space. My long-term target is around $171, but in the short term, we need a weekly close above $140.76 for confirmation. I'm a buyer near $141, with $136.15 standing out as the most attractive entry point in the support zone. Falling below this level could lead to short-term frustration.
