Nvidia's Jensen Huang To Attend APEC In Korea
Nvidia NVDA CEO Jensen Huang is set to make a high-profile trip to South Korea in October for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Gyeongju, local media reported. His appearance comes as Washington and Seoul work more closely on technology and economic ties, putting the spotlight on semiconductors and AI.
A senior ruling-party official told The Chosun Ilbo that the government and companies had been reaching out through multiple channels to secure Mr. Huang's participation, adding that his confirmation has already raised hopes of stronger U.S.Korea cooperation. Huang is expected to play a leading role in APEC's discussions on AI for economic development.
Nvidia leans heavily on South Korean partners SK hynix and Samsung Electronics (SSNLF), which supply the high-bandwidth memory chips powering its AI accelerators. Both firms recently came under pressure after Washington revoked their waivers to buy U.S. chip equipment for China operations, a move that also named Intel INTC.
Industry watchers say Huang may also tour Samsung and SK hynix facilities during his visit a sign that supply chain security and chip access remain top of his agenda.
