Riding a trend can be satisfying until it unexpectedly shifts. By steering clear of phases where a trend is overly stretched, you can identify more favorable opportunities for new entries later within the same trend's course.
The ADX is utilized to gauge areas that are excessively extended. The RSI serves to normalize the ADX readings, and a moving average (MA) of the RSI aids in identifying potential trend reversals.
While the indicator may occasionally overlook certain segments of a trend that are still viable, it offers a trade-off by potentially avoiding moments when an asset is on the verge of a reversal.
The indicator offers backtestable signals and alerts for each of the events and states.
risky limits: 0 to 100
medium limits: 30 to 70
conservative limits: 40 to 60
But always better to experiment using a backtester!
