TradingView indicators: Simple steps to get started
An indicator is a function built on the basis of trading statistics (such as opening, closing, minimum or maximum price, trading volumes, etc.). Analyzing changes in such values allows predicting the future movement of the market. The values of the indicator functions are displayed on the chart as lines, columns, points, geometric figures, or other visual representations.

How to access TradingView indicators
When you are on Supercharts, click on the Indicators button on the top panel of the chart.

From here, select an indicator and it will appear on the chart. Its name, parameters, and values will be displayed in the chart legend.
Types of indicators
Indicators help you assess the probability of the future price movements and build your trading strategy based on the historical data. Different indicators aim at different goals.
Technical analysis allows for diverse trading styles, for which it's essential to evaluate trend, price, and volume conditions.
- Trend direction
- Momentum
- Increase or decrease in volume
- High or low volatility
- Support and resistance levels
Relative Strength Index (RSI) is one of the most popular technical indicators, appreciated and used by many traders. As a momentum indicator, it helps to gauge the strength of the recent price movement and spot the potential trend reversal.
It's plotted on the scale from 0 to 100. Values can tell us about different states of the market.
- < 30 — oversold
- 70 > — overbought
From the chart, you can see that it almost follows the direction of price, but the key here is to apply this knowledge to predict what's coming next.

Financial indicators help you analyze a company's economic and financial health. They are based on the data derived from a company's corporate reports.

Indicators available on TradingView

Favorites. This tab displays the indicators, metrics, and strategies you've chosen as your favorites. If you haven't, this tab will be empty. To mark an indicator as favorite, click on the star icon to the left of it in the list.

Financials. Financial data is based on a company's performance and used in fundamental analysis to predict future prices.
- Income statement. Provides information on a company's income, costs, profits, and losses over a period of time.
- Balance sheet. Helps to explore a company's assets, liabilities, and shareholder equity. Used to evaluate a company's capital structure.
- Cash flow. Allows to analyze the cash coming in and going out of a company at a specific point in time.
