Understanding Wedge Patterns - A Real Bitcoin Case Study🎓📊 Understanding Wedge Patterns - A Real Bitcoin Case Study 🧠📈
Hi everyone, FXPROFESSOR here 👨🏫
From this moment forward, I will no longer be posting targets or trade setups here on TradingView. Instead, I’ll be focusing 100% on education only for here in Tradinfview.
Why? Because over time I’ve learned that even when traders receive the right charts, most still struggle to trade them effectively. So, from now on, FX Professor Crypto content here will be strictly educational — designed to teach you how to read and react to the markets like a professional. Unfortunately I cannot be posting on Tradingview frequent updates like I do all day. Education is always better for you guys. And i am very happy to share here with you what matters the most.
🧩 In today’s post, we dive into one of the most misunderstood formations: the wedge pattern.
Most resources show wedges breaking cleanly up or down — but real price action is messier.
🎥 I recorded a video a few days ago showing exactly how BTC respected a wedge formation.
⚠️ Note: Unfortunately, TradingView doesn’t play the audio of that clip — apologies that you can’t hear the live commentary — but the visuals are clear enough to follow the logic. (there is no advertising of any kind on the video so i hope i don't get banned again - i did make a mistake the last time and will avoid it-the community here is awesome and needs to stay clean and within the rules of TV).
Here’s what happened:
🔸 A clean wedge formed over several days
🔸 We anticipated a fake move to the downside, grabbing liquidity
🔸 BTC rebounded off support around a level marked in advance
🔸 Then price re-entered the wedge, flipping support into resistance
The lesson?
📉 Often price will exit the wedge in the wrong direction first — trapping retail traders — before making the real move. This is a classic liquidity trap strategy, exercised by the 'market'.
💡 Remember:
Wedges often compress price until it "runs out of space"
The initial breakout is often a trap
The true move tends to come after liquidity is taken
The timing of the 'exit' has a lot to do with the direction. In the future we will cover more examples so pay attention.
I stayed long throughout this move because the overall market context remained bullish — and patience paid off.
Let this be a reminder: it’s not about guessing the direction — it’s about understanding the mechanics.
More educational breakdowns to come — keep learning, keep growing.
One Love,
The FX PROFESSOR 💙

Uptrend & Downtrend Bullish Falling Wedge Pattern TutorialA bullish falling wedge is a charting pattern that signals a potential reversal from a downtrend to an uptrend. Here's a breakdown of its key characteristics:
Shape: The pattern forms a wedge that slopes downward, with the upper trendline connecting the highs and the lower trendline connecting the lows. The key is that the highs and lows get closer together as the pattern develops.
Trend: It typically forms during a downtrend, indicating that selling pressure is decreasing.
Breakout: The pattern is bullish when the price breaks above the upper trendline. This breakout suggests that the downward trend is losing momentum, and an upward trend may follow.
Volume: During the falling wedge formation, volume tends to decrease, which supports the idea that selling pressure is diminishing.
Retest: After the breakout, it's common for the price to retest the upper trendline, and if it holds, it provides further confirmation of the bullish reversal.
Example
Imagine a stock that has been falling for several months. The price forms lower highs and lower lows, creating a narrowing wedge. Suddenly, the price breaks above the upper trendline with increased volume, signaling a potential reversal and the start of an upward trend.
SPG - Trade analysis & Multi-time frame confluenceThis video is more of a tutorial on why I took a short trade on SPG today. We fell out of our strong buying continuation channels with a rejection of HTF tapered channels and selling channels. Confirmation was the support from our more tapered buying algo and rejected of the bottom of our stronger buying algo (in addition to it lining up with our strong magenta selling channel)
Happy Trading :)

Safe Haven Currency, How are they affected by global eventsHello everyone:
Want to talk a bit more about safe haven currency in the market.
Since the recent tension between Russia and Ukraine,
the safe haven currency could strengthen as a result of such uncertainty in the world.
We will take a look at some past history of these currency pairs,
how they react to the market at the time, and what could we reasonably expect in the current market conditions.
Safe Haven Currency
USD
JPY
CHF
It's in our interest to look for opportunities when a strong currency is paired with a weaker one.
This generally will move the price very impulsively with strong momentum.
Pair such as these below will potentially develop the best price action for good R:R trades.
AUDUSD
NZDUSD
USDCAD
GBPUSD
AUDJPY
NZDJPY
CADJPY
GBPJPY
AUDCHF
NZDCHF
GBPCHF
CADCHF
Always have good risk management when it comes to entering. Don't enter all the pairs, don't open too many positions,
and understand correlation between the currency pairs.
Thank you

Closer look into Rising/Falling Wedge, Reversal Price Action
Closer look into Rising/Falling Wedge, Reversal Price Action structures/patterns
Hi traders:
Today I will go more in detail on rising/falling wedge correction in price action structures/patterns.
You might have already heard about these types of correctional structures, and many traders who utilize them.
Certainly there are many ways of traders identifying them and taking advantage of these kinds of price action, so it's ideal for you to understand them in your analysis.
We first need to understand that a rising/falling wedge is a REVERSAL price action. Meaning when the correction completes, there's a higher probability of the price to reverse.
You might have already seen multiple price action videos from me that go over all sorts of continuation and reversal price action (I will share links below),
and I always talk about when combining multiples of different price action structures/patterns will give you a better edge at entering positions that work out in your favor.
Same idea here, so let's take a look at how rising/falling wedges are, how to identify them, and how to effectively use them in your analysis.
Rising/falling wedge, just as the name suggests, is an ascending/descending type of correction where the price is getting squeezed into a “wedge”.
As the price gets narrower and narrower, there's a higher probability of the price to “reverse” from the wedge.
Now about entries, certainly many traders have their own method of entering, so I will share my point of view and the way how I like to enter them.
Any questions, comments or feedback welcome to let me know :)
Thank you

Does news events affect price action analysis in trading ?Hello everyone:
Today I want to discuss news events in trading. Often when a news event comes out in the market, we get some sort of volatility and we get a strong spike/impulse.
However, does news events affect our ways of understanding price action analysis ?
Let's take a look at a few examples of the recent FOMC volatility that happened in the forex, indices and commodity market.
Most of the market had a sharp quick move to one direction, hinting a sign of weakness in USD/JPY..etc.
However, all of them ended up with a reversal impulse, and recovered all the price from the volatility.
So, what can we take away from this ? News certain creates volatility, but not the overall price action trending direction.
We may get a temporary short term move, but eventually the market recovers it, and resumes its original direction.
Often beginner/newcomer traders will try to “jump” onto the news momentum, but usually end too late, and they will take a BE or losses.
We can not control the outcome of the news or whether the news will be positive or negative towards our trades, but what we can control is our entry, SL, TP, risk management, emotions and mindset.
Any questions, comments or feedback welcome to let me know :)
Thank you

Judge the price action momentum - rising wedge pattern and RSIThere are a number of ways to judge the price action momentum. In the previous post, I show you using trend channel as an alternative to up wave or upward thrust to gauge the buying or selling momentum.
In this video, I also adopt the same example S&P 500 futures ( CME_MINI:ES1! ) to show you using the popular pattern - rising wedge and RSI indicator to achieve the same objective.
Yet, what I would like to emphasize is to understand the rationale behind the pattern and the indicator, which we can always go back to the first principle to find out, i.e. why a rising wedge is bearish in nature or what bearish divergence in RSI actually means?
Once you understand the rationale or the first principle about the price action momentum, you can start trading without memorizing every single pattern or indicator if you prefer.
How to use trend channel to judge the price action momentumIn this video, I use S&P 500 futures CME_MINI:ES1! as an example to show you using trend channel to judge the price action momentum. At the later part of the video, I also show the use of upward thrust, and the up wave on top of the channel to judge the momentum.
It is important to assess the price action momentum of any trading instruments (i.e. stocks, Forex, futures, bond, bitcoin, etc…). If there is a fading of momentum, this is the first sign of weakness to pay attention to before we start to anticipate a change of character, e.g. a down-wave to at least stopping the uptrend, if not reversing the trend immediately.
Having said that, do not get misled that if we see loss of momentum of the trading instruments, we need to get bearish to short, simply because this is only a red flag for us to anticipate potential weakness ahead. And it will take time to materialize.
As long as we have a structure with higher high and higher low, the up trend is still intact.
