Microsoft, Nvidia, Google, CoreWeave Ignite $39 Billion UK-US AI Mega Deal
Sep 17 - The United Kingdom and the United States unveiled a joint tech prosperity deal that lines up about 31 billion (roughly $4042 billion) in private investment to boost AI, quantum and energy projects.
Microsoft MSFT pledged about 22 billion for cloud and AI initiatives, including plans for the U.K.'s largest AI supercomputer with more than 23,000 GPUs. Google (GOOG / GOOGL) committed roughly 5 billion for a new data center in Hertfordshire and continued work at DeepMind. Nvidia
NVDA will deploy about 120,000 GPUs across U.K. facilities to support national AI infrastructure and the Stargate UK project with OpenAI and partners.
CoreWeave CRWV announced a 1.5 billion renewable-powered data center in Scotland, and Salesforce
CRM outlined roughly 1.4 billion in U.K. R&D spending through 2030. BlackRock
BLK and other firms confirmed multi-hundred-million-pound commitments, while Amazon
AMZN and Oracle
ORCL said they will extend existing U.K. programs. Quantum players such as IonQ
IONQ continue cross-border projects with U.K. partners.
Officials and companies expect the pact to speed quantum research, shorten approvals for low-carbon power projects and support job growth, while stopping short of guaranteed outcomes.
