A tale of two Skys
Broadcasting company Sky has said to a key chipmaker for Apple and Amazon: “This town ain’t big enough for the two of us.”- Skyworks Solutions, a chipmaker for both Apple and Amazon, has had its UK trademark challenged by broadcasting giant Sky for its name’s similarity. They’ve argued that the trademark would harm the company by diluting its brand.
- Skyworks supplies components to some of the biggest tech companies in the world including Google and Samsung, and a ruling in Sky’s favor could harm it financially. The company’s now in the process of countering the court filing.
- The company will be looking for some good news in 2023, as its share price saw a 37% drop over the year prior. Recently however, it’s been looking a bit more hopeful with a 8.11% rise over the past week.
