European ADRs Plunge in Thursday Trading
American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 4.43% lower at 1,105.48 on the S&P/BNY Mellon Europe Select ADR Index on Thursday.
In continental Europe, the gainers were led by biotech firm BioNTech BNTX and petroleum company Equinor EQNR, which rose 4.4% and 2%, respectively. They were followed by luxury ecommerce platform MYT Netherlands Parent MYTE and 3D printer company Materialise MTLS, which were up 1.5% and 0.8%.
The decliners in continental Europe were led by telecommunications company VEON Ltd. VEON and biopharmaceutical company Orphazyme (ORPH), which plunged 30% each. They were followed by 3D printer company voxeljet VVJET and bank holding company Deutsche Bank DB, which lost 13% and 12%, respectively.
In the UK and Ireland, the only gainers were biopharmaceutical company Verona Pharma VRNA and medical device maker EDAP TMS EDAP, which rose 1% and 0.1%, respectively.
The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by bank holding company Lloyds Banking Group LYG and communications group WPP WPP, which lost 13% and 12%, respectively. They were followed by bank holding company Barclays BCS and biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group MREO, which fell 9.3% and 8.2%.
