Sector Update: Energy

Energy stocks were steady pre-bell Monday with the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) recently inactive.

The United States Oil Fund (USO) was 0.5% lower and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was 1.4%.

Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was down 0.9% at $83.14 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea crude oil lost 1% to $88.61 per barrel, and natural gas futures were down 0.1% at $1.92 per 1 million British Thermal Units.

Alliance Resource Partners ARLP was up more than 2% after it reported lower Q1 earnings and revenue that still topped estimates from analysts polled by Capital IQ.
