Bulgaria, Slovenia post lowest jobless rates among EU states in SEE in Dec

SOFIA (Bulgaria), February 1 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria and Slovenia recorded the lowest seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate among EU member states in Southeast Europe (SEE) in December - of 4.0%, Eurostat said on Wednesday.

By contrast, Greece had the second-highest jobless rate in the European Union at 11.6% in the month under review, preceded only by Spain with 13.1%, the EU's statistical office said in a statement.

Apart from Greece, Croatia was the other EU member in SEE whose rate of unemployment exceeded the bloc's average of 6.1%, standing at 6.4%.

All SEE countries in the EU saw annual declines in their jobless rates in December, with Greece recording the biggest one, of 1.3 percentage points.
