SunPro to invest 20 mln euro in sunflower oil plant in Romania

BUCHAREST (Romania), February 7 (SeeNews) - Swiss specialist in the production of extracted hydrated sunflower oil SunPro will invest 20 million euro ($21.5 million) in a sunflower oil plant in Romania’s southeastern city of Galati, mayor Ionut Pucheanu said.

The new facility will be located in the Galati Free Zone and will create over 200 new jobs, Pucheanu said in a social media post on Monday.

The Galati Free Zone is located near the Black Sea and Romania’s borders with Ukraine and Moldova.

Based in Montreux, Switzerland, SunPro owns and operates processing facilities located in Ukraine, supplying sunflower oil to 11 countries worldwide. The company has a processing capacity of 1,200 tonnes of sunflower seeds per day, providing a daily oil output capacity of up to 530 tonnes.

SunPro reported a total annual gross revenue of $102 million, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) reached $13 million, latest data from the company website shows.
