EBRD mulls lending 22 mln euro to Bacau county water co

BUCHAREST (Romania), March 29 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said it is considering the provision of a loan of up to 22 million euro ($23.7 million) to the regional water operator in Romania's eastern Bacau county.

This financial support, alongside EU funds, aims to boost water and wastewater infrastructure investments by Bacau Regional Water Company, or CRAB, under the EU Infrastructure Programme in Romania, the EBRD said in a project summary document published on Thursday.

The project will have a total value of 577.1 million euro and is set to comply with EU environmental requirements. It includes measures for protection of Natura 2000 sites, which are a network of protected areas in Europe home to valuable and threatened species and habitats.

The EBRD investment is in an exploratory phase and is pending final review.
