Remy Cointreau, Pernod Ricard shares boosted by China's 'open attitude' to trade dispute

Chinese President Xi Jinping's "open attitude" towards a trade dispute over French cognac boosted spirits makers Remy Cointreau and Pernod Ricard shares on Tuesday.

During Xi's Monday's state visit to France, his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron thanked him for what he called "his open attitude" in an anti-dumping probe on cognac.

Shares in Pernod Ricard and Remy Cointreau, among top performers on France's stock market, rose 3.4% and 6.7% respectively at 0727 GMT.

Separately, a French diplomatic source said China would not impose taxes, customs duties on French cognac, pending the investigation.
