JBS Brazil plant closed over labor irregularities, labor auditors' union says

Labor auditors in Brazil's Goias state closed a large meat facility in the town of Senador Canedo after verifying irregular work conditions during an inspection last week, a post on the website of the national labor auditors' union (Sinait) said.

A press representative for the labor auditors said on Wednesday the plant belongs to JBS SA JBSS3.

JBS did not have an immediate comment when contacted by Reuters.

The decision to close the plant came on April 12 after auditors found employees were routinely subjected to "exhausting" work shifts ranging from 10 to 16 hours a day, the post said.
