French Stocks Fall for 4th Day

The CAC 40 index closed about 0.4% down at 6,661 on Wednesday, the fourth straight session of losses, as investors continued to weigh persistent fears of a global recession, while weak Chinese trade data overshadowed Beijing's moderation of Covid constraints.

Meanwhile, the eurozone economy expanded more than previously estimated in the third quarter, but the region is broadly expected to fall into a recession at the end of the year and into 2023.

On the corporate front, the top losers were Kering (-4.2%) and Alstom (-3.1%).

Meanwhile, shares in Sanofi surged 6.1% after a U.S.

judge dismissed a series of lawsuits against pharmaceutical groups GSK, Pfizer, Sanofi and Boehringer Ingelheim establishing a link between Zantac, a drug against stomach acidity, and cancer.
