SENSEX Hits New High, Nifty Above 18,600

BSE Sensex rose 307.5 points or 0.5% to a new high of 62,819.2 with Nifty above 18.600 in morning trade on Tuesday, gaining for the sixth session, tracking a rise in Asian markets, after China's decision to support property developers to boost demand.

In the US, the Wall Street closed in the red overnight, after protests in major Chinese cities against strict COVID-19 policies sparked concerns about economic growth.

Meanwhile, Rupee appreciated slightly against the US dollar at 81.6 on the back of foreign capital inflows and robust investor sentiment driven by the firm trend in the domestic equity markets.

Major sectors were trading in the green, led by consumer goods stocks and metals.

Shares of Dabur India jumped 5.2%, followed by Marico (3.3%), Hindustan Unilever (3.1%), Hindalco (1.7%), Nestle India (1.6%), and Heromoto (1.5%)
