The famed investor, oftentimes flaunting an abrasive personality, never minced words when he voiced out his thoughts on markets.

  • Charlie Munger, the sharp-witted investor and to many the greatest financial mind of our lifetime, died aged 99 at a California hospital, Berkshire Hathaway BRK.A said Tuesday in a statement. Munger was Warren Buffett’s business partner for more than 50 years and the vice chair of the giant American conglomerate.
  • “Berkshire Hathaway could not have been built to its present status without Charlie’s inspiration, wisdom and participation,” Buffett said. Now, the $800bn empire, sitting on $157bn in cash, is closer to getting orchestrated by a younger generation of value investors. Greg Abel, vice chair of Berkshire’s non-insurance unit, is likely to succeed Warren Buffett.
  • ”Rat poison, will go to zero” is how crypto skeptic Munger saw Bitcoin. Meme stock trading, he said, was ‘like a drunken brawl.’ The blistering straight shooter wasn’t one to show passion for modern developments, but his conservative approach to markets has raised generations of investors.
