ELQD is an ESG-screened version of iShares LQDa broad portfolio of USD-denominated, investment grade corporate debt. It includes bonds that have at least three years to maturity issued by developed market companies. The selection process starts with two exclusionary screens: 1) climate-based screens which removes issuers with an industry tie to fossil fuels, oil and gas sector, and issuers with low environmental controversy scores, and 2) values-based screens which excludes issuers engaged in controversial business activities as well as issuers that are determined to be non-compliant with the United Nations Global Compact principles. Additionally, issuers with MSCI ESG ratings of BB and below and low MSCI ESG controversies scores are also excluded. Holdings are weighted by market value, with individual issuer weights capped at 3%. The index rebalances on a monthly basis.
