Shakedown 1979, cool kids never have the time
On a live wire right up off the street
You and I should meet
June bug skipping like a stone
With the headlights pointed at the dawn
We were sure we'd never see an end to it all

I was a college freshman in 1979. 10 years before that I would enjoy my 4th grade summer first spending time at my British great grandmother's small house in Georgetown and stare at her collection of blown eggs covered in diamonds and listen to stories of old. Stories of her emigration to the US thru Canada from her and her husbands confiscated sugar plantation in Argentina with nothing but her children, eggs and antiques. She loved Argentina as a high society plantation owner and renowned opera singer. This was followed by time spent in the hills of Pennsylvania with my Sicilian great grandfather. No stories. I did not understand his Italian but I would enjoy his grateful smile and pinch on the cheek as I ate ground hamburger with potatoes and carrots while sipping on homemade red wine before noon. No antiques or blown - eggs just the smell of a very old house and the warm babble of a creek against the sound of coal cars clicking along over the train tracks.

US ratio of M1 to population was 1000 1969. Today it stands at around 9960.

When short term rates hit 78% in Argentina in 1995, I was rolling repo on Italian BTPs and thinking how fragile the world was. Certainly, I thought, the US M1/population ratio would top out at 3800. My gut feeling knew better.

I look forward to possibly telling my great grand children about mining Bitcoin.
