I closed my position before earnings, due to the well-known earnings curse.
But.... now, I wonder......
I will admit I was surprised that the price held steady this morning, and even more surprised that it immediately began it's recovery. I was expecting a death spiral through close, at least. But no - just the opposite. Immediate recovery?
What?
Why?
Earnings were a disappointment, weren't they? What did I miss?
Well, I thought about it a bit. The truth is, the fundamental bull thesis of GME still holds true. Go watch some Roaring Kitty youtube videos.
Ryan Cohen is still in charge. The company may not be revealing it's transformation strategy, but I think it's a safe bet there is one, and it isn't remotely trivial.
I do trust Mr. Cohen when he says they are trying to do something nobody has ever done before.
I also believe that, whatever it is, they will indeed be able to do it.
Just because they aren't telling us doesn't mean it's smoke and mirrors. This is a team with a proven track record.
If I was in their shoes? I wouldn't be revealing a darned thing either, if I was trying to do something groundbreaking - Many bigger companies who AREN'T struggling to reinvent themselves, and have the cash laying around in droves, could easily steal the idea and beat them to the punch. coming up with a novel idea doesn't mean you automatically get to be the first to the finish.
THERE IS STILL NO WORD ON THE NFT.
I think the "smart money" knows this.
Winter is coming.....
and by winter, I mean Christmas. From my juvenile experience, Fall, winter, and Christmas are the prime time for gaming.
COVID isn't over - it's getting worse.
Cabin fever sucks. TV and social media masochism are wearing people out.
Humans need community. Preferably, in person; but when that fails? Online. That's why social media has boomed, and continues to.
But we are getting tired.
Politics.
Divisiveness.
Global Catastrophies left and right.
Bad news.
More bad news.
The future of social media is not facebook, or twitter, or reddit, or anything else.
People want to have FUN together.
People NEED to have fun together.
Gaming is the future of entertainment.
Social gaming is just budding - merely in it's infancy.
I will admit, I most often think of video games as a vice, from my own experience. But I also consider them to be the most constructive vice available.
I would rather my son play Subnautica than watch Octonauts.
Skyrim over Game of Thrones.
Fallout over the Walking Dead.
