Using 6 and 10 period EMA on a monthly chart to capture trends

SP:SPX   The S&P 500 Index
1435 15 30
This is easy and captures the trend pretty well.
Hey Seine! I really dig your ideas. Would you be so kind and help me to reproduce this chart? I'm new to traidingview. Thanks!

Sure. Ah set the chart to monthly chart for SPX. Then put two EMAs and change one to 6 period and another to 10 period. That's it :)

Thanks, Seine. I had some issues with finding the EMAs (as the Indicator search for 'EMA' does not return this Moving Average Exponental, on has to use the full name) and changing the timeframe from the default (right-click on the indicator name in the main chart view and choose format -> input). It's all jolly good now!

Your method reminds me of this: http://seekingalpha.com/article/1824492-a-simple-and-timeless-way-to-trade-the-s-and-p-500-successfully though I like yours better because there are fewer false bear signals.

Nope you cannot update the chart or nope the sell signal did not kick in?

haha no i mean the sell signal is not activated. Why would i not want to update? Since it is on a monthly chart, the market would have to drop significantly to trigger the signal.
