The SPX has been in a tremendous bullish trend , great. Seriously it's a good indication of the performance of our economy. But we're not going about it the right way. It seems like the Fed is completely detached from wall st . and the effects their rate decisions have on the markets and investor emotion. After the last hawkish announcement a terrifying decent began, right in the middle of the holidays. There's no arguing we need a strong dollar, otherwise we set fire to our savings accounts. There is no question we need retracements and corrections during a trend, otherwise option value is frozen and trading options becomes worthless. It's also ridiculous to sit around as a chairmen and wait for the inflation to burst the seems of ones pants calling for alarming hikes that could have been made well in advance. A hike for the holiday struck fear in the markets, even the most successful investors began to foresee a recession in the future. Not exactly the stability investors need to trade their money on wall st . let alone the people who would feel safer with it under their bed. It goes without saying the goal of our economy should be to see everyone in the US confident enough to start investing their money in their own economy; we need there money in the market because the economic pump needs the money in the market. The Fed needs to be smart; release hawkish rate hikes to encourage retracements and promote volatility for options, that's a smart economy. Avoiding alarming corrective moves like the most recent is the only way to branch out and continue to grow the investing community. If we don't we're in for trouble. Fear in the market is dangerous, pair that with analyst downgrades, headlines of the thought of recession, and major upsets like KHC , and it's nothing but trouble. Look at the DXY , look at the current upset of KHC , think the word recession and we're all stepping in bull s***. Strength in the dollar, volatility for options, and the right time for the market, the Fed needs to get with it.
