The Houston Rockets are one of the most popular teams in China because Jeremy Lin used to play there, plus they have that run and style; shoot lots of threes. The Chinese LOVE basketball. It's the most popular sport in China, so this news is a pretty big deal, and it says a lot about the state of U.S/China relations. You could say its probably the biggest indicator we have at this point.
