BIG M&A AND BANK EARNINGS DAY

European stocks are heading for a mixed start to Thursday, as some major U.S. tech earnings and mining M&A activity pull the index in different directions.

London-listed miner Anglo American AAL said it had received an all-share buyout proposal from BHP Group BHP, a deal that would create the world's biggest copper miner.

Tech stocks are also at the forefront of traders' minds, as Meta's Frankfurt-listed shares sank 15.8% in early trading following results, while IBM's Frankfurt-listed shares were down 8.9% after the company said it will buy HashiCorp in $6.4 billion deal to expand in cloud.

EuroSTOXX50 FESX1! futures are losing 0.1%, while FTSE futures Z1! are up 0.1% and DAX futures DAX1! are ticking 0.1% lower.

Deutsche Bank DBK has reported a 10% Q1 profit jump as its investment bank outperformed.

Nestle NESN meanwhile has missed first-quarter organic sales growth estimates.
