Alpha, Beta & Correlation {DCAquant}

Alpha, Beta & Correlation (ABC's) by DCAquant

The Alpha, Beta & Correlation (ABC's) indicator, developed by DCAquant, provides traders with valuable insights into the relationship between an asset and its benchmark index. This closed-source indicator offers three key metrics:

1. Alpha:

Description: Alpha measures the excess return of an asset compared to its benchmark index after adjusting for the risk taken.

Interpretation: A positive alpha indicates that the asset has outperformed its benchmark, while a negative alpha suggests underperformance. Traders often seek assets with positive alphas as they offer better returns than the market.

2. Beta:

Description: Beta quantifies the volatility of an asset relative to its benchmark index.

Interpretation: A beta of 1 indicates that the asset's volatility matches that of the benchmark. A beta greater than 1 suggests higher volatility, while a beta less than 1 indicates lower volatility. Traders use beta to assess the risk associated with an asset compared to the broader market.

3. Correlation:

Description: Correlation measures the degree of linear relationship between the returns of an asset and its benchmark index.

Interpretation: A correlation of 1 indicates a perfect positive relationship, while a correlation of -1 suggests a perfect negative relationship. A correlation close to 0 signifies a weak or no relationship. Traders use correlation to diversify their portfolios by selecting assets with low correlation to each other.

Usage:

Customization: Users can customize the parameters to adjust the length of the analysis period for alpha, beta, and correlation calculations.

Source Selection: Traders can select the asset (source) and its benchmark index to perform the analysis.

Return Type: The indicator allows users to choose between log returns, simple returns, or price for correlation assessment.
