Traders Dynamic Index Indicator Alert v0.1 by JustUncleL

This is a trend trading indicator+alert utilising the Traders Dynamic Index ( TDI             ), Price Action Channel (PAC) and Heikin Ashi candles.
About 6months ago I came across the use of TDI             in "E.A.S.Y. Method" that I found in forexfactory forums: http://www.forexfactory.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=686629&d=1303831008
and I was able to set up a chart based on the specifications by using Kurbelklaus scripts. However, I found that the alerts were being generated one or two bars too late, so at that time I was not successful using it with Binary Options. A few months later I found a variation of the method in the forecfactory forums which is able to generate the alerts a bit earlier, so this indicator is a modification of that early detection version.

The indicator can optionally use Heikin Ashi candles only for all it's calculation. I would recommend viewing the chart with Heikin Ashi candles, these smooth out the trends and makes trends very clear.

I found that this method it works good with most currency pairs or commodities and with 5min+ timeframe charts. I would suggest expiry of 2 to 6 candles.

ALERT GENERATION:
=================

The TDI             (Traders Dynamic Index )
---------------------------------------------
Volatility Band VB(34), color: Blue, buffer: UpZone, DnZone
Relative Strength Index RSI (13)
RSI PRICE LINE (2), color: Green, buffer: mab
RSI TRADE SIGNAL LINE (7), color: Red, buffer: mbb
MARKET BASE LINE MID VB(34), color: Orange, buffer: mid

Indicator SignalLevels:
-------------------------------
RSI_OversoldLevel : 22 (normally: 32)
RSI_OverboughtLevel : 78 (normally: 68)

Alert Conditions:
-----------------------
Strong Buy : yellow
Medium Buy : aqua
Weak Buy : blue

Strong Sell : fuchsia
Medium Sell : purple
Weak Sell : black

Hints on How to use:
----------------------------
- When a Medium or Strong alert is generated and MACD histogram colour matches the direction
of the alert (optional auto filter), then place trade in direction of alert candle and MACD .
- I use the multi-Hull MA's for overall trend direction confirmation.
- Best positions normally occur near the MACD (5,15,1) Histogram crossing the zero line.
- The optional coloured Dots along the bottom of the indicator represent the first alert
of this type that was generated in this sequence.
- It is advisable to trade in the direction of the main trend as indicated the HULL MA red cloud:
if red cloud underneath PAC then BULLISH trend , if red cloud above PAC then BEARISH trend .
- Selecting the HeiKin Ashi candles does affect the MACD and MA caculations, so if you select
normal candles the result chart will change. You can still Optionally select to use Heikin Ashi
for calculations.
- When using the Heikin Ashi candles, a good buy entry is indicated by long top wick and no bottom wick
for bull (green) candles and good sell entry is indicated by long bottom wick and no top wick for
bear (red) candles.
- When the MACD histogram is flat and close to zero line,
this indicates a ranging market, do NOT trade when this occurs.
- When the PAC channel on the main chart is spread apart widely, this is an indication
of extreme volatility and choppy chart, do NOT try to trade during these periods.
A choppy chart is also indicated by Heikin Ashi candles with long wicks on both sides
of the candles.
- You can specify what strength level Alerts are generated (default 2):
Level (1) means only generate Strong Alerts only.
Level (2) means generate Strong and Medium Alerts.
Level (3) means generate Strong, Medium and Weak Alerts.

Thank you for this chart. I do not understand the alert thing. For Buy Bars: is it yellow=strong buy? Aqua= medium and blue= weak alert? For SELL bars: is it: fuchsia=strong sell, purple=medium sale and black for weak alert? How to add a sound alert to your script for yellow and fuchsia, please?

To set Strong Alerts (yellow and fuchsia) in the indicator "Format" list set "Strength level" to (1). To set alarm press Alarm Tool icon on right hand side, then press '+' to add alarm, in first box select "Traders Dynamic Index Indicator Alert..", the condition "TDIALT Alert" should appear on the second line, if not select it. For frequency select "Once per Bar (on close)" and then select sound + type, then press "Done". A new alarm should then be created.
When an alert is signalled to the Alarm system a coloured "Circle" of the same colour is also displayed on the bottom of the indicator when bar is closed. Sometimes you might get multiple alarms for the same alert or false alerts, this is an issue with the Pine script "alertcondition" function on bar close which is being looked at.
Note: To generate alarm you must have at least a PRO membership, alarms are actually managed on the Tradeview servers.

Sorry I was misinformed, you don't need PRO membership for alarms. You are allowed to have two alarms set for the standard free membership.

I actually found that alert "Strength" set to 2 better for me, so that I get in on the trend a bit earlier, it will depend on chart timeframe you are using.
NOTE: When you use alarms and you change any chart "Format" options they will not be undated in the alarm, best to delete and rebuild alarm in that case.

I use a 5 minute chart for a 15 minutes (or less) time frame.

That should be OK for 2-3 bars. If you find you are just missing at the end try with strength level 2, it will depend on the strength of the trends. Make sure you avoid the ranging and choppy markets.

Just one thing: even thought it reads for instance 1.12612 on the chart it will read 1.2607 instead of 1.12612: is it normal?

Yes that is because the chart using Heikin Ashi candles, which are calculated differently to normal candles. If it bothers you you can switch to normal candles, but select "Use Heikin Ashi candles in calculations" in the indicator "format" options to keep the same alert bars highlighted, otherwise the result will be different.

Great, I think you should be successful with this Alert indicator (I am successful with it, this one of my favourite chart setups). It is a very good strategy that utilises well know indicators in a confirming combination, like RSI, MACD, EMA, Price Action Channel...
Stick to good trading rules for Technical Indicators and you should be fine.

The market was not easy to trade yesterday, there was very little good extended smooth trends. Keep trying in a Demo account if you can, otherwise small trades, for at least two weeks. Keep to no more than two currency pairs to start with, if you become familiar with the chart behaviour you will see the trend even before the indicator signals. All good trading is about practise and more practise until you get it right and be patient. When I started I practised in Demo for long periods, I still practise in Demo between my live data sessions after I have reach my Daily Target or Stop Loss.

Also avoid major fundamental events in the market, check the economic calender before you start your trading day (investing.com/economic-calendar/). Avoid start and end of sessions (Asian, UK and US) for about 1hr, things can slow down at lunchtime too.

The sound alert comes before the dot, which is a very good point in my view.

The Dot is only drawn after the candle closes, so there want be any repainting. It was originally just there to debugging the alarm signal.

The Alarm is signalled for the Bar with the Dot, the alarm is supposed to line up with close of candle time, however, if you select a candle on the chart it will display the Bar Open time for that candle.

The moving average clouds are generated by the "TA-MAs-v1.4.2F" indicator in the main chart. You could use EMA instead, I use then for visual trend direction confirmation.

Sorry but Tradeview Pine script is completely different to MT4 code, so cannot be used in MT4. But there are plenty of MT4 coded TDI strategies around, here are a couple of similar MT4 strategies:

i seem to be losing more than winning using this strategy. Am i missing something?

I incorporated all the following: TDI, PAC, Heikin Ashi Candles, MACD Histogram, Multi-hull MA.
I will call when there's a strong signal, coupled with Histogram green colour, coupled with bullish Muti-hull trend.

Im trading on Gold, Silver, Currencies pairs, and also avoid flat histogram and wide PAC channel.

The alerts only give a potential trading positions, you still have to analyse how good each position is, this comes with experience as with any strategy. Make sure you try this or any new strategy in Demo account first for at least 200 trades and two weeks. If it does not become profitable in Demo after that time move on because the strategy is then not working with your trading style, everybody trades differently. Stick to just two or three assets to start with. Don't trade every alert, look for the best ones only.

Swapping back to normal candles should also help with your analysis, that way you see the candle patterns more clearly, Heikin Ashi candles are good to show clear trends and smooth out the normal candle patterns. Make sure you set the "Use Heikin Ashi Candles for Calculations" on though, so the same alerts and candles are highlighted. I don't take a trade unless I've analysed the standard candle patterns first, it could really choppy.

Really appreciate your feedback and advice!

How do u set the "Use Heikin Ashi Candles for Calculations" on? When i input the script and add to chart, it seems like the Heikin Ashi Candles calculations (the yellow/pink candlesticks) are activated and ready. Or am i mistaken?

Pardon me as I'm new to this :)

Where the name of the indicator is on the LHS you will a list of numbers and true/false's followed by some button icons, select the second the sunny "Format" icon then the list of parameters will pop up and you can change the settings their. But it is not advisable to change any of the top 7 settings, unless you are very experienced.
