Standard Bank Plc engages in the provision of banking and other financial services to individual customers and small-to-medium-sized enterprises. It operates through the following segments: Corporate Banking, Small-To-Medium Enterprise Banking (SME Banking), Consumer Banking, Treasury, Investment Banking, Offshore Banking, Card and Alternate Delivery Channel, Mobile Financial Services, SBL Capital Management Ltd., SBL Securities Ltd., Standard Exchange Company (UK) Ltd. and Standard Co (USA) Inc. The Corporate Banking segment focuses on large corporate groups including structured and syndicated finance with a variety of advances and deposit products and other transactions. The SME Banking segment includes loans, deposits and other transactions and balances with SME customers. The Consumer Banking segment represents loans, deposits and other transactions and balances with retail customers. The Treasury segment undertakes the Bank's funding and maintenance of SLR, Asset-liability management through money market operations such as market dealings. The Investment Banking segment includes the Bank's trading, investment in equities and other capital market activities. The Offshore Banking segment aims to provide all kinds of commercial banking services to its customers in freely convertible currencies. The Card and Alternate Delivery Channel segment includes offering a variety of debit and credit cards to the customers according to their needs. The Mobile Financial Services segment aims to cover a large number of people under banking channels through mobile network facilitating convenient cash in and out, and bills payment. The SBL Capital Management Ltd. segment acts as a TREC Holder of DSE and CSE to carry on the business of stockbrokers in relation to shares and securities dealings and other services. The SBL Securities Ltd. segment deals with underwriting, managing, and distributing the issue of shares, bonds and other securities, portfolio management, share transfer agent, fund management. The Standard Exchange Company (UK) Ltd. and Standard Co (USA) Inc. segments operate an exchange house which carries on the remittance business and undertakes and participates in transactions, activities and operation commonly carried on or undertaken by remittance and exchange houses. The company was founded by Kazi Akramuddin Ahmed and Kamal Mostafa Chowdhury on May 11, 1999 and is headquartered in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
