In-depth trading ideas
DraftKings: Platform Economics or Promotional Arms Race?Executive Summary:
Margin of safety verdict: Unclear and thin. DraftKings has built a strong position in U.S. digital sports betting and iGaming, but today’s valuation already assumes substantial margin expansion that the business has not yet proven it can deliver. Until there is clearer evidence that the promotional arms race will cool off, the investment looks more like a growth bet than a classic value opportunity with a dependable margin of safety.
One Stock, Dozens of Voices:
This analysis is not based on a single analyst’s perspective. CrowdWisdom aggregated 22 independent sources for DKNG, including 20 financial research articles across the web, one live market intelligence feed, and one verified financial data check from Yahoo Finance. From those inputs, the shared thesis was synthesized: where analysts broadly agree, where views diverge, and what the market may be overlooking.
Those conclusions were then pressure-tested by examining opposing arguments. A bull case was compared with a bear case that challenges the consensus, along with an evaluation of what expectations appear to be already embedded in the stock price. All financial metrics were cross-checked against live market data.
The goal is to show where opinion converges, where it breaks apart, and whether the stock offers any genuine margin of safety at the current price.
Business Quality and Moat Durability:
DraftKings operates one of the largest mobile sportsbook and online casino platforms in the United States. The business model is simple in concept: attract users through sports betting, monetize engagement through wagering activity, and then increase lifetime value by cross‑selling those users into higher‑frequency iGaming products.
The company sits at the intersection of two long‑term industry trends. First, sports betting has gradually become legal across the United States on a state‑by‑state basis following the repeal of PASPA. Second, gambling activity is steadily moving away from physical casinos and illegal bookmakers and onto smartphone apps.
Scale matters in this industry. Customer acquisition is expensive, marketing partnerships with media companies require significant spending, and once customers establish payment methods and betting histories on a platform they tend to stay within familiar ecosystems.
DraftKings and FanDuel together control a large share of the U.S. online sportsbook market. The resulting concentration suggests an emerging oligopoly in which only a few operators can support nationwide marketing budgets while navigating complex regulatory requirements.
Several potential sources of competitive advantage are visible.
Regulatory barriers limit the number of licensed operators in each state. Brand recognition and media partnerships help attract new users. Large user bases increase betting liquidity and engagement on the platform. Years of behavioral data improve personalization and pricing models.
Even so, the moat is not as durable as those seen in classic platform businesses. Betting odds tend to look similar across operators, and switching costs remain low. Many bettors keep accounts across several apps so they can hunt for better lines or promotional offers.
New competitive formats are also appearing. Prediction market platforms allow users to speculate on events using derivative‑style contracts, which could draw some speculative activity away from traditional sportsbooks.
Moat verdict: narrow but real. Licensing barriers and scale currently favor established operators, but the advantage does not appear to be widening.
Return on Invested Capital (ROIC):
Precise ROIC figures are not available in the dataset, which reflects DraftKings’ history as a growth‑stage operator rather than a mature cash generator.
Even so, several signals about the underlying economics are clear.
From an infrastructure standpoint, DraftKings is extremely capital‑light. Capital expenditures totaled only about $15 million over the last twelve months, less than 1 percent of revenue. The core platform behaves much like a software business where adding incremental users requires very little additional physical investment.
The real reinvestment engine is marketing and promotions. Free bets, deposit bonuses, and large advertising campaigns are required to attract and retain users. Economically, these costs function more like capital investment than traditional operating expenses because they must be continuously reinvested to maintain growth.
This creates an important distinction.
Physically, the company is asset‑light.
Economically, the company is marketing‑intensive.
If customer acquisition costs decline as the market matures, incremental ROIC could become very attractive. With minimal infrastructure requirements, much of the incremental revenue would flow through to operating profit.
If promotional competition remains intense, however, incremental returns may stay mediocre because cash flow must constantly be recycled into incentives.
In other words, the long‑term ROIC trajectory depends less on technology spending and more on whether the industry develops pricing discipline.
Quality of Earnings:
DraftKings reported approximately $647.5 million of free cash flow in fiscal year 2025, representing a free cash flow margin of about 10.7 percent. After years of cash burn while building market share, reaching positive free cash flow marks a significant milestone.
The income statement, however, still shows a fragile profitability profile.
Gross margins are about 41 percent, but operating margin remains slightly negative at roughly minus 0.3 percent. Marketing, promotions, and operating expenses absorb nearly all of the gross profit generated by the platform.
The gap between gross margin and operating margin highlights the key question for investors.
Is promotional spending simply a temporary investment that fades as the market matures?
Or is it a permanent structural cost of competing in the sportsbook business?
Another complication comes from revenue volatility tied to sports outcomes. If bettors win more frequently during major events, sportsbook operators experience lower hold rates, which can materially reduce revenue in a given quarter.
As a result, short‑term profitability can swing even if underlying engagement trends remain healthy.
Capital Allocation Scorecard:
Historically, DraftKings has prioritized growth and market share over direct shareholder returns.
The company does not pay a dividend, and there has been no consistent share repurchase program through fiscal 2025. Management’s focus has been expanding into newly legalized jurisdictions and improving user engagement on the platform.
Capital expenditures remain extremely low relative to revenue, reflecting the digital nature of the business.
On the balance sheet, DraftKings holds roughly $1.10 billion in cash against approximately $1.84 billion in long‑term debt, leaving the company with modest net debt. The debt load is manageable but not insignificant given the still‑developing profitability profile.
In practice, management’s capital allocation approach can be summarized simply: invest aggressively in user growth and platform expansion today, with shareholder returns becoming a priority later once the business matures.
Customer and Revenue Concentration:
Unlike enterprise software companies, DraftKings does not rely on a handful of large corporate customers. Its concentration risks appear in different forms.
First is product concentration. A significant portion of revenue comes from sportsbook wagering tied to major sports seasons. Football, basketball, and baseball drive a large share of betting activity.
This creates clear seasonality and event‑driven volatility. Customer‑friendly outcomes, where bettors win more often than expected, can significantly reduce sportsbook revenue.
Second is user concentration. As in most gambling businesses, a relatively small group of high‑frequency bettors generates a disproportionate share of total wagering volume. Losing these high‑value customers to competitors or regulatory restrictions could have an outsized effect on revenue.
Management Alignment:
Insider activity over the past year has been mixed.
Several executives, including co‑founder Jason Robins, sold shares worth several million dollars. These transactions do not necessarily signal negative sentiment; founders often diversify their personal wealth after a company goes public.
However, insider buying has been limited, which provides less evidence of strong conviction at current valuations.
There has been at least one notable insider purchase by a director who acquired a substantial number of shares around the low twenties per share. That purchase suggests some confidence but is not large enough to draw firm conclusions.
Overall alignment appears typical for a founder‑led growth company, though it does not stand out as unusually strong.
10-Year Durability Test:
Predicting what the digital gambling landscape will look like a decade from now is difficult.
Several structural risks could materially affect the business.
Regulation is the most important. Online gambling exists entirely within government licensing frameworks. Higher state taxes, advertising restrictions, or bans on certain betting formats could significantly reduce profitability.
Technological substitution is another possibility. Prediction markets and other event‑based trading platforms blur the line between financial speculation and gambling. If regulators accept these formats, they could compete for the same pool of speculative users.
Commoditization is also a concern. If sportsbook odds and promotional offers become indistinguishable across operators, competition could devolve into pure price incentives.
Finally, social and political pressure related to gambling addiction could lead to stricter consumer protection rules.
Because these risks depend heavily on regulatory decisions and technological change, forecasting the industry ten years out carries significant uncertainty. For investors who prioritize highly predictable long‑term economics, the business sits close to the edge of the “too hard” pile.
Multi-Year Thesis (3 to 7 years):
Base Case Scenario:
Probability: 50 percent.
Assumptions:
Revenue grows at roughly 15 percent annually as additional states legalize betting and existing markets mature. Promotional spending gradually declines as the market stabilizes. EBITDA margins expand toward approximately 12 percent.
Outcome:
DraftKings becomes a solid but not exceptional digital gaming operator generating stable free cash flow.
Estimated intrinsic value: approximately $40 to $45 per share.
Bull Case Scenario:
Probability: 25 percent.
Assumptions:
iGaming adoption accelerates in legalized states. The market settles into a rational oligopoly dominated by a few large operators. Promotional intensity declines significantly. EBITDA margins approach 20 percent or higher.
Outcome:
DraftKings evolves into a highly profitable digital gambling platform with strong operating leverage.
Estimated intrinsic value: roughly $70 to $80 per share.
Bear Case Scenario:
Probability: 25 percent.
Assumptions:
Promotional competition remains intense. Prediction markets or new entrants capture a portion of speculative betting demand. Operating margins remain in the 0 percent to 3 percent range.
Outcome:
The market begins to value DraftKings more like a traditional gaming operator rather than a high‑growth technology platform.
Estimated intrinsic value: approximately $20 to $25 per share.
Probability-weighted intrinsic value estimate: roughly $40 per share.
Margin of Safety Verdict:
Intrinsic value estimates for DraftKings vary widely depending on margin assumptions. Conservative valuation models place intrinsic value near the high twenties to mid thirties per share, while more optimistic projections extend into the $70 to $100 range.
With the stock trading around the low thirties, the probability‑weighted intrinsic value suggests only modest upside. More importantly, the valuation range itself is extremely wide, which indicates that small changes in assumptions can produce dramatically different outcomes.
For value investors looking for a clear 20 percent or greater margin of safety supported by stable earnings power, the current price does not offer much protection.
Peak Margin Stress Test:
Gross margins currently sit around 41 percent.
If promotional spending rises or competition intensifies, gross margins could compress toward the mid‑thirties. In a scenario with 36 percent gross margin and continued marketing pressure, operating margins could remain close to breakeven.
Under those conditions, EBITDA expansion would stall and valuation multiples would likely compress. Companies with volatile earnings and modest margins typically trade at much lower EBITDA multiples than high‑growth software platforms.
A shift toward traditional gaming industry multiples could lead to meaningful downside for the equity.
Valuation Framing:
The core valuation debate around DraftKings comes down to how the business ultimately behaves.
Technology platforms typically achieve high margins and strong returns on capital once they reach scale.
Traditional casinos, by contrast, generate steady but moderate returns and must consistently spend on marketing to attract customers.
Current valuation multiples appear to assume a hybrid outcome in which DraftKings benefits from digital scale while still maintaining strong growth.
If margins eventually expand into the mid‑teens or higher, today’s valuation could prove reasonable.
If margins settle in the mid‑single digits, much of the upside may already be reflected in the stock price.
Perception vs Reality:
Perception:
DraftKings is a technology platform whose software‑like economics have yet to fully emerge.
Reality:
At present, the company behaves more like a marketing‑driven consumer business where promotions and incentives remain central to growth.
Why This May Be Misunderstood:
Investors often evaluate DraftKings through the lens of digital platforms because the product is delivered through a mobile app.
Historically, however, gambling economics have looked far more like those of casinos than software companies. Even successful operators tend to operate with moderate margins and meaningful marketing expense.
The key question is whether digital distribution truly changes those economics.
Three Measurable Things to Watch Next Quarter:
Marketing and promotional spending as a percentage of revenue.
Market share relative to FanDuel and other competitors.
Growth of higher‑margin iGaming revenue relative to sportsbook revenue.
Historical Conviction Drift:
Investor sentiment toward DraftKings has shifted noticeably over the past several years.
Early excitement around sports betting legalization pushed valuations to extreme levels during the pandemic era. The stock later fell sharply as investors realized that profitability would take longer to materialize than initially expected.
More recently, improving fundamentals and positive free cash flow have restored some confidence, though skepticism about the durability of operating margins remains.
Disconfirming Evidence:
The strongest argument against owning DraftKings is straightforward.
Despite years of rapid growth and a large user base, the company has not yet demonstrated consistently strong operating profitability.
If promotional spending remains a permanent cost of maintaining market share, the business may never achieve the high returns on capital implied by current valuation assumptions.
In that case, the long‑term economics may resemble those of traditional gambling operators rather than high‑margin digital platforms.
Risks:
Regulatory changes that increase taxation or restrict advertising.
Competition from FanDuel and emerging prediction‑market platforms.
Revenue volatility driven by sports outcomes and hold‑rate fluctuations.
Potential legal challenges or regulatory scrutiny related to gambling addiction.
Balance sheet pressure if growth spending accelerates faster than cash generation.
Summary:
DraftKings has built one of the leading digital gambling platforms in the United States. The company benefits from strong brand recognition, regulatory licenses, and a growing user base in a market that continues to expand through legalization.
The central economic question, however, remains unresolved.
Will the industry eventually settle into a rational oligopoly where promotional spending declines and margins expand? Or will competition remain intense enough that operators must continually subsidize customers?
At today’s price, the market appears to be assuming meaningful margin expansion.
That outcome is certainly possible, but it has not yet been proven. For investors who require durable returns on capital and a clear margin of safety, DraftKings remains an interesting business but an uncertain investment.

DraftKings Stumbles: Earnings MissDraftKings Stumbles: Earnings Miss, Tepid Guidance, and Cathie Wood Exits as Prediction Markets Beckon
DraftKings Inc. delivered a disappointing conclusion to its 2025 fiscal year, sending shares into a tailspin on Friday as investors digested a fourth-quarter earnings miss and a 2026 revenue outlook that fell substantially short of consensus expectations. The selloff was not confined to DraftKings alone; the negative sentiment bled over to Flutter Entertainment, parent company of rival FanDuel, underscoring the interconnected nature of investor sentiment in the online sports betting sector.
Adding a layer of narrative intrigue, Cathie Wood's ARK Invest, a high-profile thematic investment manager, was observed unloading additional DraftKings shares on Thursday, just ahead of the earnings release. The proceeds were redeployed into crypto-related equities, signaling a potential shift in ARK's conviction regarding the relative near-term prospects of sports betting versus digital asset exposure.
1. Q4 Performance: A Mixed Bag Masked by a Headline Miss
DraftKings reported fourth-quarter adjusted earnings per share of 36 cents , a substantial improvement from the 14 cents reported in the prior-year period but still short of the 39-cent consensus forecast. Revenue increased 43% year-over-year to $1.989 billion , narrowly missing the $1.99 billion analyst target.
The headline miss, while modest in absolute terms, triggered an outsized market reaction, reflecting the high expectations embedded in DraftKings' valuation and the market's sensitivity to any indication of decelerating momentum.
Beneath the surface, the quarterly results revealed a more nuanced picture. Monthly unique players (MUPs) , a critical metric for assessing user base expansion, remained flat at 4.8 million compared to the prior year. This static performance contrasted sharply with FactSet expectations of 5.26 million, suggesting that customer acquisition costs may be rising or that market saturation is approaching in certain jurisdictions.
However, the company demonstrated impressive monetization of its existing user base. Average revenue per monthly unique player (ARPUP) surged 43% to $139 , comfortably exceeding the $124 consensus. This divergence—flat users but surging revenue per user—indicates that DraftKings is successfully extracting greater value from its existing customers through cross-selling, higher-margin products, and improved engagement. For a mature growth company, this dynamic is not inherently negative, but it does shift the narrative from "land grab" to "monetization," a transition that often introduces multiple compression.
2. The 2026 Outlook: Investment Mode Weighs on Guidance
DraftKings' 2026 revenue guidance proved to be the primary catalyst for the post-earnings selloff. Management projected full-year revenue in the range of $6.5 billion to $6.9 billion , a forecast that incorporates significant investment in the company's newly emphasized Predictions business. The midpoint of this range implies year-over-year growth of approximately 15%, a deceleration from the 43% growth achieved in Q4 2025.
Analysts, by contrast, had been modeling a more robust trajectory, with consensus expectations calling for 2026 revenue of $7.2 billion , representing approximately 19% growth. The approximately $300 million gap between the guidance midpoint and the consensus forecast suggests that either management is being deliberately conservative or that internal projections have identified headwinds not yet reflected in sell-side models.
CEO Jason Robins, in the earnings release, sought to frame the investment thesis constructively. "We also see a massive, incremental opportunity in DraftKings Predictions," Robins stated. "We plan to deploy growth capital to build the best customer experience in Predictions, and acquire millions of customers." This language signals that DraftKings views the 2026 guidance not as a reflection of diminished long-term potential, but as a temporary period of elevated investment designed to capture a new addressable market.
3. Prediction Markets: The Next Frontier
The reference to "DraftKings Predictions" represents a strategic pivot that warrants close attention. Prediction markets—platforms allowing users to wager on the outcomes of political events, financial metrics, cultural phenomena, and other non-sporting occurrences—have emerged as a high-growth adjacency to traditional sports betting.
Earlier in February, DraftKings announced a partnership with Crypto.com to expand its prediction markets offerings. This collaboration marries DraftKings' user acquisition expertise and regulatory relationships with Crypto.com's blockchain infrastructure and cryptocurrency payment rails. The timing is opportune, as prediction markets gained mainstream visibility during the 2024 and 2025 U.S. election cycles, with platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket attracting significant user volume and media attention.
For DraftKings, prediction markets offer several strategic advantages. They expand the total addressable market beyond sports fans to include news followers, political enthusiasts, and financial speculators. They operate with different margin profiles and regulatory frameworks than traditional sports betting. And they provide a natural entry point for cryptocurrency integration, potentially attracting a younger, digitally native demographic.
However, the investment required to build a competitive prediction markets platform—including technology development, regulatory navigation, and customer acquisition—will weigh on near-term margins. The 2026 guidance embeds this reality, and investors must now assess whether the long-term opportunity justifies the short-term earnings drag.
4. Cathie Wood's Exit: Tactical or Thematic?
The timing of ARK Invest's DraftKings sales added an additional layer of complexity to the post-earnings narrative. On Thursday, ahead of the earnings release, ARK funds were observed unloading additional DraftKings shares while simultaneously accumulating crypto-related equities.
Cathie Wood's investment style is characterized by high-conviction thematic bets and active portfolio management. Her decision to reduce DraftKings exposure—even before the disappointing earnings and guidance—suggests either a tactical de-risking ahead of a known catalyst or a more fundamental reassessment of the sports betting investment thesis.
The concurrent accumulation of crypto stocks is instructive. ARK has long been a prominent advocate for digital assets, viewing blockchain technology as a transformative force across multiple sectors. The rotation from DraftKings into crypto names may reflect a view that the risk-reward profile of digital asset exposure has become more attractive than sports betting at current valuations, or that the prediction markets opportunity—while strategically sound—will take longer to materialize than previously anticipated.
For DraftKings shareholders, ARK's exit is not necessarily a directional signal. Wood's funds represent a single investor with a specific mandate and time horizon. However, given ARK's influence among retail and thematic investors, the sales may exert psychological pressure on sentiment until new institutional buyers emerge to absorb the supply.
5. Analyst Reaction and Valuation Context
Following the earnings release and guidance, analysts are likely to revise their 2026 estimates downward to align with management's more conservative framework. The extent of multiple compression will depend on whether the investment thesis shifts from "accelerating growth" to "transitional investment phase."
DraftKings' valuation has historically commanded a premium due to its position in the dual-growth markets of online sports betting and iGaming. That premium is now under pressure as growth rates moderate and investment intensity persists. The company's ability to articulate a clear path to operating leverage and free cash flow generation will be critical in determining whether the current selloff represents a buying opportunity or a structural re-rating.
6. Broader Sector Implications
Flutter Entertainment's correlated decline underscores the sector's sensitivity to DraftKings-specific news. As the parent company of FanDuel, Flutter is exposed to many of the same dynamics—market maturation, regulatory uncertainty, and the need for continued investment to maintain competitive positioning. While Flutter's geographic diversification provides some insulation from U.S.-specific trends, the DraftKings guidance raises questions about the entire U.S. online sports betting market's near-term growth trajectory.
Investors in the sector will now scrutinize Flutter's upcoming earnings for confirmation or contradiction of the trends signaled by DraftKings. If Flutter reports sustained momentum and offers more constructive guidance, DraftKings' miss may be viewed as company-specific. If Flutter echoes the cautious tone, the selloff could broaden.
Conclusion: A Pause in the Narrative, Not an Ending
DraftKings' post-earnings selloff reflects genuine near-term concerns: user growth stagnation, guidance below consensus, and elevated investment spending. The company's strategic pivot toward prediction markets, while promising, introduces execution risk and delays the path to margin expansion.
However, the fundamental thesis—that online sports betting and digital wagering represent multi-decade secular growth opportunities—remains intact. DraftKings' brand strength, regulatory relationships, and technology platform provide durable competitive advantages. The partnership with Crypto.com positions the company at the intersection of two powerful trends: the normalization of sports betting and the mainstreaming of cryptocurrency.
For long-term investors, the question is whether the current pullback represents a temporary dislocation or the beginning of a sustained de-rating. The answer will depend on DraftKings' ability to execute its prediction markets strategy, stabilize user growth, and eventually translate revenue into sustainable free cash flow. The 2026 guidance suggests a year of investment and transition. Whether the market has the patience to wait for the payoff remains to be seen.
DraftKings momentum builds near support ahead of Super Bowl surCurrent Price: 26.62 (Analysis was generated on Monday Morning)
Direction: LONG
Confidence level: 64%(Several professional traders highlight bullish momentum tied to Super Bowl betting volume and improving technicals, supported by positive X sentiment, though overall trader volume is moderate rather than overwhelming.)
Targets
Target 1: 27.56
Target 2: 28.36
Stop Levels
Stop 1: 25.84
Stop 2: 24.92
Key Insights:
Here’s what’s driving this trade. Multiple professional traders are focused on the Super Bowl betting spike as a near-term demand shock for DraftKings. They highlight expanded betting markets, aggressive engagement features, and strong historical performance around major sports events. What stands out is that traders aren’t talking about hype alone — they’re tying upside expectations to actual volume growth and user activity.
At the same time, traders acknowledge competition and valuation risks, but the tone suggests those risks are already reflected in price. When I put the trader commentary together, the takeaway is simple: if DKNG holds the mid‑$26 area, traders expect buyers to step in ahead of the event window and earnings follow‑through.
Recent Performance:
You can see this setup clearly in the price action. DKNG bounced to $26.62 with a strong single‑day move on above‑average volume, pushing back toward the $27.50 resistance zone. The stock is still near the lower end of its yearly range, which is why several traders see this as a positioning phase rather than a late move.
Expert Analysis:
Traders are watching the $25.80–$26.00 area closely as the line that shouldn’t break this week. Several professional traders pointed to $27.56 as the level that changes the short‑term picture — a clean push through there opens the door toward the high‑$28s. Momentum indicators discussed by traders show early upside pressure rather than exhaustion, which supports a long bias into the next few sessions.
News Impact:
The news flow is adding fuel. Super Bowl wagering projections are hitting record levels, and DraftKings’ leadership has been vocal about expected betting volume. Add in the upcoming earnings call and recent regulatory clarity around prediction markets, and traders see a supportive backdrop for a continuation move rather than a fade.
Trading Recommendation:
Putting it all together, here’s my take. I’m sticking with a LONG bias as long as DKNG holds above $25.84. The risk‑reward favors upside into $27.56 first, then $28.36 if momentum follows through. I’d keep stops tight given the event‑driven nature of the move, but the trader consensus and social momentum both support staying long this week.
DKNG DraftKings Options Ahead of EarningsIf you haven`t bought DKNG before the rally:
Now analyzing the options chain and the chart patterns of DKNG DraftKings prior to the earnings report this week,
I would consider purchasing the 31usd strike price Calls with
an expiration date of 2026-3-6,
for a premium of approximately $0.80.
If these options prove to be profitable prior to the earnings release, I would sell at least half of them.
DKNG in BUY ZONEMy trading plan is very simple.
I buy or sell when at either of these events happen:
* Price tags the top or bottom of parallel channel zones
* Money flow volume spikes beyond it's Bollinger Bands
So...
Here's why I'm picking this symbol to do the thing.
Price in buying zone at bottom of channels
Money flow momentum is spiked negative and at bottom of Bollinger Band
Entry at $32.5
Target is upper channel around $36, but may exit at $34.50 moving average area.
Buying DKUP for maximum return.

DraftKings Super Bowl ReboundThe Super Bowl is typically the largest customer acquisition event of the year for sportsbooks, and DraftKings is currently positioning itself to capture massive volume for Super Bowl LX
Customer Acquisition Spike: DraftKings is currently running aggressive "Bet $5, Get $300" promos to lock in new users ahead of the playoffs. This surge in downloads and active users often translates into bullish sentiment in the weeks leading up to the big game.
Handle Growth: Management recently reported that sportsbook wagering was up 17% year-over-year as of late 2025, providing a strong baseline of momentum heading into the peak betting season of Q1 2026.
Revenue Projection: For the current quarter, analysts are projecting massive revenue of $1.94 billion, a 38.95% increase from the previous year, driven largely by the heavy NFL postseason and Super Bowl slate.
2. The New 2026 Catalyst: "DraftKings Predictions"
A unique factor for this year's "Super Bowl madness" is the launch of DraftKings Predictions.
This new platform allows DraftKings to enter states that do not yet have legal online sports betting, significantly expanding their addressable market for the Super Bowl.
Analysts expect this "event contract" model to have higher margins and lower promotional costs than traditional betting, which could be the "X-factor" that drives a breakout.
3. Technical Analysis ($35.17 as of Jan 9)
Your TradingView chart likely shows NASDAQ:DKNG testing a key structural pivot:
Resistance: The stock is currently fighting the $36.00 level. A high-volume break above this would be a "Strong Buy" signal, potentially targeting the $50.00 range seen in early 2025.
Broadening Structure: As of January 9, 2026, the stock is trading in a horizontal trend channel. The "Super Bowl run" usually provides the volume needed to break out of such a range.
Long Gambling - DKNG and LVSWe are tracking a quarterly squeeze (left chart) on NYSE:LVS as well as a monthly squeeze on NASDAQ:DKNG
As the economy further deteriorates and the average consumer continues to struggle, i expect these 'vice' stocks to outperform over the next 12-18 months.
I will be looking for strategic entries into both of these names, with NASDAQ:DKNG being closer to an appropriate entry.
Keep in mind ALL positions would still be HEDGED, as a broad selloff WILL drag everything down with it, at least short term.
DraftKings Wave Analysis – 4 December 2025- DraftKings reversed from support zone
- Likely to rise to resistance level 36.00
DraftKings recently reversed from the strong support zone between the multi-year support level 30.00 (which has been reversing the price from 2024) and the lower weekly Bollinger Band.
The upward reversal from this support zone started the active weekly correction 2.
DraftKings can be expected to rise further to the next resistance level 36.00 (which reversed the price earlier this year, as can be seen below).

The price is once again approaching the lower boundary of this range, where buyers have historically stepped in.
Momentum indicators are entering attractive levels, suggesting that a potential swing setup could form soon.
However, earnings are due this week, so caution is warranted.
For those who like to take higher risk, an early entry before earnings could pay off if a rebound begins —
but it’s not what I recommend.
The more disciplined approach would be to wait for the earnings reaction, then evaluate a position on Friday, depending on how price behaves around this key support area.
As long as the lower range holds, this setup remains technically sound and could offer a solid risk/reward opportunity in the coming weeks.
DraftKings Wave Analysis – 29 October 2025- DraftKings reversed from support area
- Likely to rise to resistance level 32.45
DraftKings recently reversed up from the support area between the long-term round support level 30.00 (which has been reversing the price from August of 2024) and the lower daily Bollinger Band.
The upward reversal from this support area created the daily Japanese candlesticks reversal pattern Hammer.
Given the strength of the support level 30.00, DraftKings can be expected to rise to the next resistance level 32.45 (former support from the start of October).
DKNG LongOn the 15-minute chart for DKNG, the broader market structure shows a short-term downtrend following a clear Change of Character (CHoCH) near 36.42, where bullish momentum previously shifted into a bearish phase. Price has since broken several internal BOS levels to the downside, most notably below 34.80, confirming continued bearish structure and suggesting sellers remain in control for now.
The supply zones between 34.00–34.80 and 35.00–35.40 are well-defined areas where price previously dropped sharply, indicating that sellers reacted with conviction. The lower zone near 33.00–33.20 acts as a demand zone, where buyers have historically stepped in with strength, causing short-term rebounds.
Currently, price is reacting near that lower demand area, showing signs of a potential short-term bounce. However, the main expectation is for a pullback toward the 34.20–34.80 supply region before sellers likely regain control. The trade bias remains bearish until price can decisively reclaim and close above 35.00, which would invalidate the short-term bearish view and potentially initiate a new bullish leg. Momentum presently favors sellers, as seen by the sustained lower highs and strong bearish candles, but short-term relief rallies are possible from current levels.

Action
The projected growth of NASDAQ:DKNG makes sense as more people entering the risky gambling world. While economic downturns are not favorable for vacation gambling destinations, they are favorable for online betting as consumers seek "viable" economic options... it's a dirty game we are all playing as traders here. While there is risk of the price gaps down to $15-$16 getting closed during a real crash, I just don't think the market is there... yet. Insiders selling and the competitive landscape are red flags, but from the technical analysis to the fundamentals, this looks like a promising growth stock. Thus, at $34.36, NASDAQ:DKNG is a personal buy zone with near-term risk between $28-$30.

DKNG Update | Crash AheadOne of the best fractal overlays I've seen with some Elliott Waves to go with it.
Price is still in a uptrend but with growing sellers It'll come to an end similar to the last fractal.
During the 3rd wave in the last pattern price experienced its first pullback at (B), and its second at correction wave 4 and the third after the last wave before we witnessed the last push in buyers.
This current cycle price is in a similar stage with a swing low at (b) meaning that we could see another run-up towards major resistance ($63).
This would be the final blow-off-top in general markets. TVC:RUT is already showing signs of weakness which works well with this TA example.
When the time is right I'll do another TA for the downfall. For now I'm bullish but for the horizon I'm very bearish.
