Liquidity is a measure of how easy an investor or trader can get in and out of the market without greatly affecting the price of the trading instrument. High levels of liquidity are characterized by a high level of trading activity or volume. Assets that can be easily bought or sold are known as liquid assets. Assets that have low levels of trading activity and are harder to get in and out of the market are known as illiquid assets.
