The Crab - how the hell do you draw it?

NASDAQ:AAPL   APPLE INC
Saw an article on harmonic patterns and when trying it out I found that it was impossible to get all the ratios right. Am I missing something or just retarded?
The extension of bc leg is usually a range not an exact point.

This is the article I read: http://www.babypips.com/school/summer-school/harmonic-price-patterns/the-gartley-and-the-animals.html
It says:

1. Move AB should be the .382 or .618 retracement of move XA.
2. Move BC can be either .382 or .886 retracement of move AB.
3. If the retracement of move BC is .382 of move AB, then CD should be 2.24 of move BC. Consquently, if move BC is .886 of move AB, then CD should be 3.618 extension of move BC.
4. CD should be 1.618 extension of move XA

Which turned out to be impossible, so the ranges make sense. Thanks!
This should mean that the top left crab in the chart should be valid.
However it seems weird to me to have range limits that doesn't fulfill all criteria.

Hello,
if anybody can halp with the patterns that would be AKIL. He eats those complicated figures for breakfast. You must be bored or something if you start to learn this strategy. Good luck with it.

The D point is determined by the 1.618 extension of the XA leg. The other ratios are the BC extension fib ratios that are used to establish the maximum extension of the CD leg. In other words, prices must reach the minimum 1.618 XA extension in order to be a valid crab. If prices go past the 1.618 extension (as they often will with extension patterns like the crab), then you look to the 2.24 -3.618 BC extension ratios for a range where prices may reverse. This gives you the PRZ. If they go past all the numbers, then the crab is invalid. Hope that helps.

So are you saying that the top right crab is valid as well?

Thats a great question and It has also puzzeled me as well.

I plotted this and unsure if this is correct? I usually trade using EW but this is something I am looking into as I am seeing this pattern more and more when looking at charts.

Any thoughts?

My D wave is meant to be 1.618 and not 1.772 so please ignore.

The pattern you have is not valid as the C point is actually higher than the A point. So it isn't any pattern. Only patterns with C points higher than the A points are Cypher and Sharks.
