Will ATVI's aggressive move into eSports be a long-term payout?

Long
NASDAQ:ATVI   Activision Blizzard Inc
ATVI is known to continually pump out great A-list video games. They have become a dominant force in the video game industry, and will remain one for years to come. As the millenial generation grows up and has kids of their own, video games continue to gain popularity as a pass-time for both kids and their parents (you would never catch my baby boomer parents playing video games!).

Although video games will continue to grow as a pass-time, this is not the reason that we see ATVI as a long-term hold (atleast, not entirely). They have been continually doubling down into the eSports category, particularly with their team-based shooter #Overwatch. With big investor money flowing into the Overwatch League, it is growing and evolving from a nerdy gaming stream to a full-fledged sports league.

Here at #Stockzilla, we believe that eSports will be a major industry globally, and ATVI will be a leader in that front... The question is; how soon will this happen? While we think it is likely, if it takes 15 years for the league to take off - an investment today may sit stale for a long time before seeing the returns driven by a booming eSports industry. On the other hand, if eSports can continue to grow at the pace it has started out on over the past couple years, it may not be long before people are cheering for their favorite Overwatch team at the local pub just as they would for their beloved Yankees, or Steelers... or MAPLE LEAFS!

eSports poses an interesting change in the world of video games - do you think it will drive great long-term returns on stocks like ATVI ? Let us know what you think!
