XBT Basis/Contango/Backwardation chart

This is an XBT Basis/Contango/Backwardation chart.
If you don't know what Basis, Contango and Backwardation means, please do a search with the search engine of your preference.

In the Top Pane
Blue line graph:
- This is the Basis expressed as how many percent the Perpetual Swap deviates from the Futures Contract.
- Below the (purple) Zero Line means the Perpetual Swap is below the Futures price. The Basis is «Under» or in «Contango»
- Above the Zero Line is «Backwardation»

In the Bottom Pane
Red line graph: Futures Contract
Orange line graph: Perpetual Swap

Additional notes:
- Because I've used two panes rather than a chart layout with two charts, the upper and lower charts scroll in sync. That way it's easy to compare the basis to the price chart.
- Because the Perpetual Swap and the Futures Contract are merged to the same scale, it's easy to see where they deviate from each other.

To get your own copy of this chart just click the «share» icon (megaphone) and then «Make It Mine».
Rename it to something that makes sense to you.
Remember to update the charts when BitMex launches new Futures contracts (blue one in top pane and red one in bottom pane). For more on that see below.

If you want to build your own from scratch and play around with it, here's how to do it:

1. Make a new chart layout in Tradingview
2. Rename it «XBT Contango/Backwardation» or something else you like
3. Copy paste: (BITMEX:XBTUSD-BITMEX:XBTZ19)*100/BITMEX:XBTZ19 into the ticker box on the top left of the page
4. Choose a time frame you like (I have chosen Daily)
5. Make it a line chart
6. Place a horizontal line at 0.0
7. Delete Vol (20)
8. Click «Compare» and add BITMEX:XBTZ19
9. Click on «XBTZ19, BITMEX», then chose «Move To» -> «New Pane Below»
10. Click «Compare» and add BITMEX:XBTUSD
11. Click on «XBTUSD, BITMEX», then chose «Move To» -> «Existing Pane Below»
12. In the lower pane click on «XBTZ19, BITMEX» then «Pin To Scale» -> «Pin To Scale A»

To update the charts when BitMex launches new Futures contracts, replace XBTZ19 (in line 3 and 8/9) with the ticker for the new Futures contract.
