The correct and wrong ways to count an impulse wave.
Your "correct" one needs some additional help too. Wave 2 and 4 should alternate in time, size or complexity. Also, one wave of 1,3 and 5 needs to be substantially longer (61.8% longer) than the next longest one.

Clearly, this is a simplified chart showcasing what constitutes invalidation. Basic tenants. And your last sentence is incorrect. Please cite page reference.

No. It means it cannot be labeled as an impulse wave (5 waves). In most instances they must be labeled as an abc correction or in the case of the last example, a possible extension.
