41-Day Sentiment mastery missionGM WARRIORS
I'm on a mission to master the SuperTrend indicator by testing all 42 combinations of its key settings: Factor, ATR (Average True Range), and Time Periods.
Each day, I’ll backtest 50 trades on a new combination to refine a 15-minute day trading system, focusing on trend precision and market sentiment. The combinations include:
21 Factors (2.0 to 4.0 in 0.1 increments).
2 Timeframes (15M and 30M).
Goal: Identify the optimal SuperTrend configuration, master early trend reversals, and sharpen market insights within a month.
Results will be shared daily via a public sheet and incorporated into my ongoing SuperTrend study. If you’d like updates, let me know, and I’ll tag you in this journey!

Trade the TREND with 4 Trend Indicators4 Trend Indicators you can use to identify the current MACRO Trend.
It's always important to know where your market is currently trading. Is it bullish, bearish, or range trading? If you have established the trend, you can trade with the trend instead of against it. Trading against the trend ( for example shorting during a bullish cycle ) adds unnecessary risk to an already risky trade (leverage).

The BW indicator included in the TS - BW indicator is an indicator expressed by synthesizing the MACD, StochRSI, CCI, PVT, and superTrend indicators.
When the BW indicator
- records a high point, it is time to sell, and
- When it records a low point, it is time to buy.
The BW indicator in the price candle section is the same as the BW indicator included in the TS - BW indicator, but it is an indicator that is expressed in the price candle when a horizontal line is formed at the highest or lowest point.
If you look at the position of the BW indicator expressed in the price candle section, you can know when to proceed with a trade.
I think you can be confident about starting a trade by referring to the status of the MS-Signal (M-Signal on 1D, 1W, 1M charts) indicator that can confirm the trend.
If you add the HA-Low, HA-High indicators here, you can create a more detailed trading strategy.
Have a good time.
Thank you.

The indicators activated in the settings are those created by trading volume.
Therefore, this indicator represents the volume profile section.
The indicator that the arrow points to is the indicator I mentioned earlier.
By looking at this indicator together with volume candles, you can more clearly identify the volume profile section and support and resistance sections.
In addition, you can verify the start of trading by checking the movement of the BW indicator, which consists of five indicators, namely MACD, StochRSI, CCI, PVT, and superTrend indicators.
BW-MACD, BW-StochRSI, BW-CCI, BW-PVT, and BW-superTrend indicators are displayed separately to help you understand the indicators.
Once your trading timing has been selected, you need to create a trading strategy that suits your investment style.
What is important in creating a trading strategy that suits your investment style is the investment period and investment size.
Once the investment period and investment size have been decided, you must create a trading method and profit realization method using the information obtained from chart analysis.
Trading methods include buying, selling, and stop loss methods.
The purchase method should focus on how to lower the average purchase price by purchasing in installments.
At that time, when the price falls below the stop loss point and shows resistance, you need to think about how to proceed with selling.
When taking a stop loss, you must proceed according to the investment period you have set.
For example, if you decide to trade within one wave as a short-term trade and proceed with the trade, but the price falls below the stop loss point, you should be able to sell 100% and then watch the situation.
If the price rises after purchasing, you must proceed with selling according to the selling method.
The selling method must also be carried out according to the investment period.
However, the method of increasing the number of coins (tokens) corresponding to profit by selling the amount equal to the purchase amount can be continued into mid- to long-term trading even if the transaction was done through day trading or short-term trading.
The reason is that the average purchase price of coins (tokens) corresponding to profits is 0.
If you add other indicators to help you conduct split transactions based on price fluctuations, the chart will look like the one above.
If the chart is unfamiliar to your eyes,
It is recommended to view only the HA-Low, HA-High indicators and the M-Signal indicators of the 1D, 1W, and 1M charts.
Have a good time.
thank you

How to Use the Supertrend Indicator to Day Trade CryptoOne of the first pieces of advice given to new traders is to “trade with the trend.” That’s where a simple yet effective indicator known as Supertrend comes in. This tool can help you identify and get in early on emerging trends. Therefore, it has found significant popularity amongst crypto day traders. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the Supertrend indicator, discussing its signals, the best Supertrend settings, and four strategies you can get started with right away.
What Is the Supertrend Indicator?
The Supertrend indicator is a technical analysis tool designed to help traders identify and follow market trends. It’s a lagging indicator that can be used to develop comprehensive trend-following strategies, assisting traders in spotting reversals and the start of new trends.
Supertrend incorporates a volatility metric called average true range (ATR) into its calculations and is plotted with a single line overlaid on the chart.
This line represents the trend direction. When price is above the Supertrend line, the line will turn green to signal bullishness. Conversely, when price is below the Supertrend line, the line will turn red, so the market is considered bearish. The indicator’s signals are simple and effective in trending markets but can be incorrect in ranging markets, meaning it’s best to seek extra confirmation before considering entries.
Supertrend Indicator: Formula and Calculation
The Supertrend indicator is calculated using two key components: ATR and a multiplier. The ATR measures the overall price range of an asset, offering an indication of its volatility. The multiplier allows traders to change the sensitivity of the indicator.
The formula for the Supertrend indicator is as follows:
Upper Supertrend Line (Red) = (High + Low) / 2 + (Multiplier x ATR)
Lower Supertrend Line (Green) = (High + Low) / 2 - (Multiplier x ATR)
The default settings for ATR and the multiplier are typically 10 periods and 3, respectively. A shorter ATR will give more weight to recent price action, while a longer ATR will smooth out values. However, changing this value won’t have as much bearing on the indicator as the multiplier.
By moving the multiplier up or down, traders can adjust the Supertrend’s sensitivity. A lower multiplier increases the number of overall signals and false signals while allowing for a tighter stop loss. A higher multiplier will generate fewer entries and false signals, often at the cost of a wider stop.
Identifying Trade Signals
The Supertrend indicator offers fairly simple buy and sell signals, determined by observing the relationship between the price and the line.
Buy signals occur when price crosses above the Supertrend line. In this scenario, the Supertrend line often acts as a dynamic support level, which could be an ideal entry point for a long position. The bullish trend is considered intact as long as the price stays above the Supertrend line.
Sell signals are generated when price falls below the Supertrend line. Similarly, the Supertrend line acts as a dynamic resistance level, which may be a suitable entry point for a short position. Traders can maintain their short positions if the price remains below the Supertrend line.
How to Use the Supertrend Indicator for Crypto Trading
The indicator can be applied to various timeframes, from intraday charts to daily and weekly charts. However, shorter timeframes, such as the 5-minute or 15-minute charts, are more common for day trading, as they offer more frequent trading opportunities.
What Are the Best Supertrend Settings for Crypto Trading?
But what Supertrend settings are optimal for crypto trading? In truth, there is no one-size-fits-all setting. Generally speaking, the theory says it’s best to keep the ATR value somewhere between 10 and 20 since this will provide a good mix of sensitivity to recent price action and smoothing.
As for the multiplier, the standard factor of 3 is suitable. Some traders may prefer to adjust it to 4, 5, or 6, to account for crypto volatility, although this may lead to a reduced risk/reward ratio. Ultimately, the best settings will depend on market conditions and the crypto asset you’re trading, so it’s wise to experiment to find your optimal configuration.
Supertrend Indicator Settings for Crypto Intraday Trading
For intraday trading focusing on short-term price movements, you could consider adjusting the Supertrend settings to increase sensitivity to price fluctuations. One possible configuration is to use a multiplier of 2 and an ATR period of 10. This setup can help identify more trade signals and adapt to rapid market changes, allowing traders to enter and exit within a few minutes or hours.
Supertrend: Best Settings for Crypto Swing Trading
Given that swing trading typically involves holding positions for several days or weeks, swing traders may prefer to adjust the settings slightly higher. This will offer a clearer reading of the broader trend. The ATR can be set anywhere between 10 and 20, while a multiplier of 5 will reduce the number of false signals.
Trend-following swing traders may also benefit from setting a bias using the Supertrend on the 4-hour or daily charts and then using the hourly chart to enter trades. It’s not uncommon for an asset to range on the hourly chart and whipsaw above and below the Supertrend while remaining bullish or bearish on the higher timeframes. This can help to avoid confusion when the market ranges.
How to Create an Effective Supertrend Indicator Strategy for Crypto Trading
Now that we have an idea of what the Supertrend indicator is, how it works, and the best settings to use, we can begin to formulate some strategies. If you want to test them for yourself, you can try our free TickTrader platform at FXOpen. There, you’ll find the Supertrend indicator and dozens of other technical tools waiting for you to use.
1-Minute Supertrend Scalping Strategy
Using the 10-period ATR and 2-factor multiplier mentioned, we can create a 1-minute Supertrend crypto scalping strategy.
Entry: When the line turns green/red, we can enter with a long/short market order as the candle closes.
Stop Loss: Above or below the nearest swing high/low, depending on the direction of the trade.
Take Profit: You can close the trade when Supertrend switches to another colour.
As seen in the example, this provides traders with some decent scalping opportunities to enter early with relatively tight stop-loss levels.
Double Supertrend Strategy
This strategy uses two Supertrends with different settings to reduce the number of false signals. It aligns the more sensitive Supertrend’s signals with a less reactive version while still allowing for relatively tight entries.
Requirements: A fast Supertrend with lower settings (blue and orange) – default 10-period ATR and 3-factor multiplier is suitable. A slow Supertrend with higher settings (green and red), like 20 and 7.
Entry: The fast Supertrend will typically precede the slow Supertrend, so observe the fast signals and wait for the slow lines to confirm the direction (both should show either bullish or bearish). Traders can enter with a market order once confirmed or wait for a retrace to the slow Supertrend and enter with a limit order.
Stop Loss: Above or below a nearby swing high/low depending on the trend direction.
Take Profit: You can close the trade when the slow Supertrend signals a change in direction.
In the example shown, we can see that while the faster Supertrend switches back and forth between bullish and bearish, our strategy stays aligned with the stronger overall trend, allowing us to capture the bulk of the move until it reverses.
3 Supertrend Strategy
This strategy seeks extra confirmation using three Supertrends and an exponential moving average (EMA). The EMA helps us classify the trend in another way (above = bullish, below = bearish). Simply put, we wait until all three align before considering an entry.
Requirements: Three Supertrends with varying settings. We’ve used 10 and 2, 20 and 4, and 30 and 6. You’ll also need a 200-period EMA.
Entry: Wait until all three Supertrends are green and price is above the 200 EMA for a long entry, and vice versa, to enter with a market order.
Stop Loss: Above or below a nearby swing point.
Take Profit: You may close the trade when all three turn red if bullish or green if bearish.
While this strategy won’t offer many entries throughout the day, it can help traders jump on trends with strong confirmation.
Relative Strength Index (RSI) Supertrend Strategy
While the relative strength index (RSI) is best known for its ability to spot overbought and oversold conditions, it can also help us confirm trends. The midpoint (50) is regarded as the defining boundary, with action above indicating bullishness and below demonstrating bearishness. Here, we’ve also increased the Supertrend multiplier to 5 to get a clearer picture of the trend.
Requirements: The default RSI with 14 periods and the Supertrend with a length of 10 and multiplier of 5.
Entry: When Supertrend gives a bullish or bearish signal, confirm that RSI is above or below 50, depending on the direction. If both line up, traders may enter with a market order.
Stop Loss: Above or below a nearby swing point.
Take Profit: You can close the trade when the Supertrend switches or if RSI is reading above 70 or below 30, indicating extreme overbought or oversold conditions.
The added benefit of using RSI means that traders can anticipate trend reversals when the indicator reads overbought or oversold or when divergences appear, allowing for some predictability as to when the Supertrend might switch.
Stochastic Supertrend Strategy
The stochastic indicator is similar in principle to RSI, helping traders spot overbought and oversold conditions. However, it frequently flashes these signals, offering us a way to confirm Supertrend signals and entries.
Requirements: The default stochastic indicator, with settings 14, 1, and 3. Set the Supertrend to a multiplier of 5.
Entry: After the Supertrend signals a certain direction, wait for the first time Stochastic reaches below 20 if bullish or above 80 if bearish to enter with a market order. Avoid trading if it’s not the first time.
Stop Loss: Above or below a nearby swing high or low.
Take Profit: You may close the trade when Supertrend changes colours.
The Stochastic indicator allows traders to identify areas where the market is likely to reverse and, when combined with Supertrend, can assist us in finding optimal entries with strong confirmation.
The Bottom Line
In summary, the Supertrend indicator is a versatile tool that can help traders capitalise on new trends with fairly simple entry and exit signals. While it can produce false signals, particularly in ranging markets, the strategies described should help you filter out some of these losing trades.
Moreover, these strategies aren’t exclusive to crypto; you can apply and adjust them to any market you see fit, including forex, commodities, and stocks. Visualizing Stochastic energy for perfect entriesThe stochastic RSI has always been a problem tool for me because of its clunky look erratic lines and the way it seems l....r each other and sometimes it doesn't.
I've always felt like the stochastic RSI had these energy waves built into it that we weren't able to see because if there's an uptrend of the stochastic then there has to be an equal or greater downtrend of energy pushing it in the other direction but what if there isn't more than that energy and what if this is a perfect balance between the two energies.
This would imply that either that there's a divergence of the energy related to how price is closing or there is a pause in the energy because they're balanced between the two and of course that means your price will pause and run flat as well.
In this video I talk about the proper way to use this new indicator and the way you used to use the stochastic RSI.
Using the information as video and the images that I plot out on the screen you'll be able to see when you should do you should enter trades long or short and why you need to know where your support and resistance lines are as well as whether you're breaking above or below your moving averages.
Let this video be a first class tutorial on perfect trades using a stochastic RSI but like all other indicators you cannot use it by itself make sure that you have confluence on your price chart.
PS as always welcome to the coffee shop.

Welcome to the coffee shop everyone this is your host and baristo Eric,
You know what we do around here so pull up a seat at the table and get ready for your caffeine overdose .
I am happy to say that as of today we are at the final stage of development basically on The Heiken Ashi Algo Oscillator. It has proven to be a very powerful tool, very popular,, and very easy to use. up until now I have basically been showing you what all the parts do and what they mean because I figure you can't necessarily use a tool unless you know what it's settings are for.
NOTE ABOUT SUBTITLES:
I really believe that this new update will be a scalper's wet dream when it comes to being able to sit there and stare at your chart watching the oscillator and waiting for a break in the trend so that you can stay in your trade or you can exit your trade.
That being said this being the final development that needed to be done with this oscillator, any videos that you see related to the algo from me are going to be strategy videos. So let's get into the final change that I have just made and uploaded to Tradingview.
The final change as of right now is that the RSI Moving Average is now a colored line. It appears red when your average on your RSI is trending down (lower values) , and green when it is trending up (higher values). It also takes into consideration the momentum of the trend so it will not effectively change colors until the previous momentum is lost and volume has changed enough to the opposing side.
For example you could have heiken Ashi candles traveling flat on your RSI but you're RSI moving average is still red. It will not change to green until the momentum starts moving the opposite way. So not only will you know that the previous momentum is lost but you will also know when it changes direction.
As you know in the previous update to the RSI and the RSI moving average have a trend Cloud that appears behind it which switches from red to Green evenly. However there is a third black color that appears from time to time in that Trend cloud.
This black color means a loss of momentum.
Trend Cloud Meaning:
Trend Cloud (Black) = No Momentum and Volume
Trend Cloud (Green) = Bullish Momentum and Volume
Trend Cloud (Red) = Bearish Momentum and Volume
Price will run flat if:
If the Trend cloud is Back, while the RSI Moving Average is green, you have lost momentum to the upside.
If the Trend cloud is Black, while the RSI Moving Average is Red, you have lost momentum to the down side
Trend is changing direction If:
Trend cloud was one color but slowly blended to opposite color without changing into a back color.
Now with the RSI, moving average being able to switch between colors you can tell when the new trend has started or the old trend has restarted because, just because there was a loss in momentum of the previous Trend doesn't mean it's just going to switch the other way and it doesn't mean that it's going to continue the same way however the moving average will tell you what it's doing along with the trend cloud.
If you were previously in an uptrend and then you get a black cloud Showing behind your candles you know that you have a loss in momentum. If you look at your moving average, you will see that it will switch to the opposing color however if it then switches back to the original color then all you had was a pause in your Trend and is going to continue the same way it was going before. Iif the moving average has switched colors when the trend Cloud went to Black and the moving average stays that second color you know that your trend has changed Direction.

Here is why I suggest you should use the SUPER TREND!I see the weekend is here. A new week is about to begin, and it's time to get organised, reflect on your progress so far, and learn something new to help you achieve your trading goals., and boost your profitability.
Let's be honest, I am someone who normally likes to follow the trends. A lot of the trend following indicators I've encountered along the way in my professional and career growth haven't made sense to me. Moving averages, Average Directional Index, Moving Average Convergence-Divergence, Parabolic SAR etc. I always had a lot concerns with the indicators being able to swiftly follow the price movement, as well as identify a clear reversal of the underlying trend. However, I came through to find this SUPER 'super trend' indicator some while ago, and by testing this and adding it to my intraday trading strategy, I finally see that I could rely on one single indicator to help me identify the trend quickly and more efficiently (never 100% of course it is still not a holy grail!) but the results were good enough for me to write down this post to you guys.
What is the Super trend indicator?
'Super trend,' as the name implies, is a trend-following indicator, similar to moving averages and MACD. It is plotted on prices, and the position of the prices reflects the current trend. When we build the Super trend indicator, the default settings are 10 for the ATR and 3 for the multiplier. The average true range (ATR) is important in 'Super trend' since it is used to determine the indicator's value and it indicates the degree of price volatility, which is one reason why this indicator beats Moving averages, which disregards price volatility.
Super trend Indicator Formula
The super trend indicator computation is illustrated below–
Up = (high + low / 2 + multiplier x ATR)
Down = (high + low) / 2 – multiplier x ATR
Average True Range = / 14
The number 14 represents a period in this context. As a result, the ATR is computed by multiplying the previous ATR by 13. Add the most recent TR and divide it by the time.
As a result, ATR is an essential component of the supertrend technical analysis indicator.
How to Use Super trend Indicator to Identify Buy and Sell Signals?
Super Trend, as a trending indicator, performs well in trending markets (both uptrends and downtrends). When the indicator flips over the closing price, it is easy to identify a buy-sell indication. When the Super Trend closes below the price and the colour turns to green, a buy signal is issued. A sell signal is generated when the Super Trend closes above the price and the colour of the Super Trend changes to red.
There is no such thing as a 100 percent accurate technical indicator, and Super Trend is no exception. It also produces erroneous signals in sideways markets, however it produces fewer false signals than other indicators. As a result, you may use Super Trend in conjunction with other indicators to provide more accurate trade signals.

BTCUSD trading with Supertrend IndicatorThis idea is based on the well-known indicator Supertrend. Using three days as a timeframe and operating on a broker that you can long or short with BTC (for example, Binance Futures with 1x leverage) gave a significant profit after almost four years of trading.
I will go through all the details on the trades and how to use this strategy in other markets.
First the Indicator: Supertrend
Let's start with the main idea, the Supertrend indicator. It's a trend-following indicator that gives similar signals as moving averages. It's an easy-to-understand indicator. It plots green area and line for an uptrend (below the price) and red zone and line for downtrend (above the price). It has two parameters to set the signals, which is very simple.
Now, how do you enter the trades?
This is where you can improve for other markets, timeframes and instruments. In this idea, I just followed the Supertrend indicator blindly. When the indicator signal turns green, Long, when red, Short. No other indicator or analysis was made.
And to exit the trades?
This is something that can be modified for even better profits. In this example, I closed the trade and started a new one following the indicator signal. Example: First opened a long trade, then a short sign appeared. I close the Long trade and open a new one. Short trade, and vice-versa. Open one, Close the opened before, and so on.
So, it's that simple? Follow the indicator blindly and make a profit?
This example I am giving here may sound easy, but this will change in different time frames and markets. I used the 4-year cycle of BTC (more info here cryptopotato.com). It will not always behave like this idea, but it should give you a better understanding of market trends and when it's changing.
What about those statistics on the chart?
Let's dive into those numbers now
* Cumulative profit: 572%
This means that when you sum all the profits and losses, the total profit percentage was 572%
* Trading Time: 1458 days (3,99 years)
The total time in days/years trading. Remember that the time frame is three days to check the market ten times a month.
* Number of Trades: 12, winning trades 8, and losing trades 4
The total amount of trades in that period, winning trades (ending in profit), and losing trades (ending in loss)
* Winrate: 66,67%
After the period, 66,67% of the trades were winning trades.
* Broker Fee: 0,1%
Depending on the broker you use to trade this market, this number will vary, so check it first on the market and instrument to better calculate the fee statistics. I used Binance Futures with 1x leverage and increased the fee to the spot value to simplify the calculations.
* Biggest Winning Trade: 442% and Biggest Losing Trade 22%
The most significant profit made on one trade and the most significant loss on one trade
* Average profit per trade: 47,67% and Average profit per month: 11,76%
The average profit percentage per trade (no matter if it is a winning or losing trade) and the average profit per month since the first trade. This gives a better idea of monthly gains and per trade
* Buy and Hold Profit: 291%
This statistic shows how much you would have made by buying at the first trade and holding the entire period. Compare this with the Cumulative profit to see if it's worth following this strategy or not. In case the buy and have gained more significant than the cumulative profit, the strategy is not profitable as buy the asset and wait for better prices
* BTC used per trade: 0,086668351
The amount of BTC used in every trade (in this example, 12 trades). I used the same amount on every trade to make it less risky and straightforward to calculate the fees and the profits. If you decide to use compound or other money management, this will increase the risk and the profits. Remember that we started with capital in USD, bought the coins, and made the trades using BTC, not USD
* Total Fee in BTC
Since I used a fixed BTC amount per trade, the fees were calculated from the same amount on every trade.
* Initial USD Capital: $1.000,00
The initial amount in USD was used to buy BTC to start the trades.
* First Trade Entry Price: $11.536,22
The entry price of the first trade was made. This value is used to calculate how much BTC was bought and used on all trades (I am using a fixed BTC amount)
* Initial BTC amount: 0,08668351
The total BTC amount bought when the initial capital is first trading day and used on all trades.
* Final BTC Amount without Fee: 0,49582968
The total BTC amount after all trades, based on the profit made, not discounting the fees of every transaction. You get the fixed BTC per trade and multiply it by the cumulative gain since using a fixed stake. For other money managements, the value will vary with the BTCUSD price at the trade moment.
* Final BTC amount with fee: 0,49374928
The amount of BTC earned with the trades, discounting the fees.
* Capital after selling Coins: $21.189,89
After selling the coins, you earned your capital with the trades at the last trade price. This not includes the fees to convert BTC to USD.
* USD capital Increase: 2.118,98%
The percent amount increased after the trades based on the initial capital.
The capital increase was more significant than the profits made by the trades. Why is that?
This happens because BTCUSD price increased during the trading period, adding to the profits made with the trades, there are the profits made with the price increase of the asset.
Will this repeat for the next market cycle?
The pattern and vast profits stayed the same when the last three cycles (2010-2013, 2014-2017, 2018-2021?). We are in a different scenario globally. The world economy is very different from 12 years ago, so we are sailing into new waters right now. The demand for BTC is increasing like never before in this cycle (check this article hindustannewsindia.in)
What other indicators can I use to reduce my risk with this strategy?
Since this strategy is based on the Supertrend indicator, a trend follows indicator, any indicator that reduces the noise in that category will work. Moving averages, Bollinger Bands, Ichimoku, ADX, to name a few. I don't advise using oscillator indicators to trade against the trend, like RSI, MACD, Stochastic, etc. It's not worth the risk, and you may miss a big move because of them.
Any better way to exit the signals and make more profit?
Exiting the trade when the next signal appears is not the best way, but this indicator is sure a profitable way. Since you are following the trend, you don't exist on small price retractions, just when it breaks the trend. Many indicators can be used to exit the trades. Moving averages, MACD, Ichimoku, ADX, to name a few. You can use them with smaller periods to get the exit signal earlier and ensure more profits, using them as moving stop losses (www.flowbank.com)
Can I make more trades besides the trend-changing days?
A way to make more trades without compromising the main trades is adding to the position when the price is close to the Supertrend indicator. Taking the first trade as an example, it was an excellent opportunity to increase the position when the price got close to the indicator. The same way to exit some parts of the position when the price moved away for the indicator.
Looking at this chart and seeing a 2.000% increase in the capital may sound too good to be accurate, but it happened. Of course, it may never happen again, but if this indicator gives an average of 10% of that profit, it's 50% per year profit, not bad for three trades a year.
This indicator can be easily found in the technical indicators on Tradingview and several other trading platforms.
Please ignore big numbers in the bottom panel, use the chart for a better understanding of the profit curve and the risk

TAAT : Trading IPOsTAAT IPOed on the Canadian Stock exchange on the 24th of June this year. It had returned 39% over the past 3 months over some optimism on its E-cigarettes business. Vanguard Subscribers were asking how to trade this particular stock.
Multiple Time Frame Analysis show an UPTREND in all timeframes from the 4hr to the Monthly
Price trades above the Supertrend line on all time frames : UPTREND
Price is UPTREND above the Ichimoku Cloud SSSA/B lines
Technique : Aggressives buy when price retreats and bounces as close to the Supertrend line as possible and place stop loss on the SSSA line . Once price clears the Supertrend line comfortably, raise your stop loss to the Supertrend line.
Conservatives buy when price breaks through SSSB line and re-emerges from below to above the SSSA line. Buy on the first candlestick close ABOVE the SSSA line.
Target Price/EXIT : Sell only when your stop loss is hit = Supertrend is violated. If your initial trade had been successful, a raise of your stop loss from the SSSA line to your Supertrend Line would have given you a risk free trade covering your commission and cost of your trade.
SuperTrail Indicator Video / Trailing Stop LossWas just playing around with the replay function in Trading View and thought I'd share this to show how the SuperTrail indicator worked on a couple of different stocks.
The SuperTrail is basically a modified SuperTrend but instead uses a percentage to allow you to manually set the trail level for individual stocks. Some need a wider trail, some a smaller one. You might set a trail based on the last months range, or the last 3 months. Totally up to you and the stock itself. The idea is to find what I call the natural range of a stock based on its past behaviour and hope that the stock maintains this range into the future. You can of course simply adjust it from time to time as the stock and the market goes through different behaviours (eg bull or bear), reacting to good or bad company news etc.
I use the percentage value that I come up with to set as my stop loss / trailing stop with my broker. This way if the stock drops below the trail value (which automatically moves up as the stock price moves up, but never down if the stock goes down), the stock will automatically sell and I will hopefully bank any profits. Works best of course with trending stocks. You could use the buy signal to go long and the sell signal to short. Main thing for me is I don't have to sit and watch the market and worry how my shares are going. If one is starting to go the wrong way, I automatically get out. Completely up to you how you use it. It is a very simple system :)

Colored Directional Movement IndexWhat Is the Colored Directional Movement Index (CDMI)?
The Directional Movement Index, or DMI, is an indicator developed by J. Welles Wilder that identifies the direction of the price movements and the trend strength. DMI is a collection of three separate indicators (ADX, +DI, -DI) combined into one
ADX's purposes is to define whether or not there is a trend present and the other two indicators ( +DI and -DI ) serve the purpose of determining trend direction. By combining all three, a technical analyst has a way of determining and measuring a trend's strength as well as its direction
What to look for :
Trend Strength - Analyzing trend strength is the most basic use for the DMI.
Crosses : When +DI is above -DI, there is more upward pressure than downward pressure in the price. If -DI is above +DI, then there is more downward pressure in the price
DMI can provide quality information and even trading signals, but it is not an easy indicator to master and not easy to read within multiple lines
Here comes Colored Directional Movement Index (CDMI)
CDMI is still the same indicator but visualized on the top of the price chart with single line of coloured triangles. CDMI requires additional setting to be provided by user which are Strong Trend and Week Trend threshold levels. Wilder believed that a DMI reading above 25 indicated a strong trend, while a reading below 20 indicated a weak or non-existent trend. Hence the default values for strong trend is set to 25 and week trend set to 17
How to read CDMI , it is simply to read colours and shapes of the triangles
Tringle Shapes indicates the direction of the move and are calculated by comparing the values of +DI and -DI
triangle up shape when +DI is above -DI (+DI > -DI)
triangle down shape when +DI is below -DI (+DI < -DI)
Triangle Colours, there are four main colours:
Strong Bullish : Green is printed when ADX value is bigger than the Strong Trend Threshold +DI is above -DI (ADX > StrongThesh and +DI > -DI)
Strong Bearish : Red is printed when ADX value is bigger than the Strong Trend Threshold +DI is below -DI (ADX > StrongThesh and +DI < -DI)
Weak Trend : Black is printed when ADX value is lower than the Strong Trend Threshold and bigger than Week Trend Threshold ( ADX > WeekThesh and ADX < StrongThesh)
Even Weaker Trend : Yellow is printed when ADX value is lower than the Week Trend Threshold ( ADX < WeekThesh)
Additionally, Intensity changes of colours (between light and dark) will allow you to follow how ADX value is changing comparing it to its previous values.
If current value of ADX is bigger than the previous value of ADX a dark colour will be printed, otherwise when ADX value decrease a lighter colour will be printed
Please check links below for different usages of CDMI

BATTLE OF THE SUPERTRENDS. And The Winner Is...BATTLE OF THE SUPERTRENDS
Here is an interesting comparison of many of the Top "Supertrend Strategies" that are published here on Tradingview (Including my own: "SUPER SMART ST") . Please note that all test shown here were done using Heikin Ashi candles, which seem to improve Supertrends functionality ...
15 MINUTE (BTC/USD) COMPARISONS
ONE HOUR (BTC/USD) COMPARISONS
FOUR HOUR (BTC/USD) COMPARISONS
Recently I released several SUPERTREND based indicators, studies and strategies. In fact, I created an entire " Trading Toolkit " that incorporates Supertrend along with many other built-in Indicators, Oscillators and Technical Analysis Tools.
--- SCROLL TO BOTTOM HERE FOR LINKS TO THEM ALL ---
I decided to compare my "Super Smart" SuperTrend with the SuperTrend strategies others had published. As you can see in screenshots above, the results were very interesting. What follows is a summary of my experiences and journey surrounding this super topic.
IT STARTED WITH BACKTESTING
After a lot of thought and "playing around" with SuperTrend over the past few months, I was compelled to perform hundreds of backtests across many cryptocurrencies and all the common timeframes. I was seeking to improve upon SuperTrend (if I could) without degrading any of it's many inherent qualities.
But before I jump into my personal journey toward a "Smart" Supertrend, let me share a few thoughts with those of you who are new to Supertrend...
WHAT IS SUPERTREND?
As the name suggests (and as many of you likely already know) , 'Supertrend' is a trend-following indicator that is notably popular.
WHY?
Well, it does a remarkably great job of recognizing a trend (once in progress) and signaling you to when to jump into a trade after the trend is clear. However, many traders feel the greater value of Supertrend is that it helps KEEP YOU IN your position until that trend is over by ignoring minor dips and retracements along the way. Yes, supertrend has it's short comings (detailed later) , but boy... when it's right, it can be very profitable.
IT SOUNDS SO EASY
When you look at any Supertrend chart (in history) it looks so impressive. You begin to fantasize about gains and profits. After all, Supertrend maps out many impressive price movements. It just seems so easy, right? But you soon realize that "trusting" what Supertrend is telling you is hard... "BUY, BUY, BUY... this is a friggin' trend." But you doubt yourself and what Supertrend is telling you and you hesitate. Been there?
Then you finally get in and Supertrend starts yelling... "STAY IN, STAY IN, STAY IN"... but you're up a percentage point (or two) already and you don't want to lose your profit. You exit. Usually way too soon. You're super happy until you see Supertrend continuing to track along with a monster trend. You missed out! Bummer.
SECRETS OF SUPERTREND
You have to remember a couple of secrets to get Supertrend to work the way you've fantasized:
1) Trust it, get in when it signals and stay in until it signals you to exit.
2) Accept the fact that Supertrend does not work well in sideways markets, so if you detect that this is what is forthcoming in the market... lay back, go do some GRID TRADING or have a beer. Wait for a trending market (unfortunately this is usually less than 30% of the time).
3) Should you enter on a Supertrend signal and discover after-the-fact you are in a flat or sideways market, exit as soon as this is clear or at the latest, when Supertrend signals an exit. Yes, you might have a loss. But don't assume Supertrend didn't work, it did work but the market did not have a trend worth following, so you'll have to enter again on the next signal. For every big Supertrend trade you nail, you'll have to wade through perhaps 6 or 7 not so great trades.
4) To improve your odds, try combining Supertrend with other indicators. Often it's a combination of things that gives you your optimal ins and outs.
Speaking of combinations...
STONEHENGE SUPERTREND PLUS (Toolkit)
It was "Secret #4" (above) that lead me to create the " Stonehenge Supertrend Plus Toolkit. "
This features THREE Supertrends:
A CURRENT timeframe Supertrend,
A HIGHER timeframe Supertrend and
My exclusive SUPER SMART Auto-Adjusting Supertrend.
In addition, it is closely integrated with dozens of other indicators and data points.
BUT WHY THE FUNNY MEGALITHIC NAME?
Well, it looks like Stonehenge! Check it out... it displays an array of stones arranged in a manner that does a pretty good job of predicting the future. Learn to read these stones and you can sometimes predict the future!
And best of all, these Stonehenge "predictive stones" not only incorporate Supertrend data but they also enhance Supertrend as you consider entry and exit points along the way.
LET ME CLARIFY
1) There is Supertrend (the standard indicator)
2) There is SUPER SMART SUPERTREND (a version I optimized)
3) Then there is STONEHENGE (a multi-indicator toolset that incorporates Supertrend and Super Smart Supertrend)
LET ME CLARIFY FURTHER
My indicators here have TWO parts that work together:
1) An overlay that appears on the chart with your candles.
2) A separate stand-along indicator that presents data as an array of colored "stones" which help predict future price movement.
AND YET FURTHER CLARIFICATION
1) I have both free and paid versions of everything.
2) I have both Strategy and Study versions of everything.
3) Strategy versions allow BACKTESTING, while Study versions have ALARMS.
IT MIGHT SOUND COMPLICATED, BUT...
If you're confused, just install a free version ( part 1 and part 2 ) and explore this for a few days. If you like what you see, you might consider the more advanced STONEHENGE TOOLKIT . That's all there is to it!
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming!!!
WHAT'S SO SMART ABOUT SUPER SMART SUPERTREND?
As I built the Stonehenge Toolkit, I kept noticing that the Supertrend part had a very annoying downside: Entry signals lagged and Exit signals came late. If those two things could be improved, Supertrend would be really "Super."
After much trial and error and even more backtesting I developed a solution that achieved my goals without OVER modifying Supertrends' inherent qualities. In a nutshell, I made Supertrend smarter!
MANY PEOPLE ASK...
What's the best ATR period and multiplier setting for Supertrend? After all, there are typically only two important data points we must enter for Supertrend to work, namely the 'period (ATR number of candles or days)' and the 'multiplier (value by which ATR is multiplied).' BTW, in case you don't know, ATR signals the degree of price volatility. A common default setting is 10 for the ATR period and 3 for the multiplier.
While this is good to know, Super Smart Supertrend already has well tested default settings built-in, so you can install it and use it right away, without adjusting settings in the beginning. Just plug and play.
HOW IT WORKS
So here's what I did. Using data from other indicators I came up with a SMART SUPERTREND that auto-adjusts as the market changes. It still has settings so you can fine tune for specific assets and timeframes (if you like) , but once the settings are entered, it auto-adjusts as the market and prices evolve.
With "Super Smart SuperTrend" there is no ATR period setting (ATR is determined programmatically) and now there are TWO multipliers you can experiment with... (a lower one set at 1.7 default and a higher one at 2.5). These multiplier settings create a multiplier range that can be used programmatically to adjust the multiplier automatically as the market and prices evolve.
BTW, there is also a separate STANDARD Supertrend that you can run parallel or turn on/off to compare things if you like.
THE RESULTS
Across all time frames and assets I've tested, I generally get better results with my "Smart" version. Better entries, better exits and well defined trends. However, when compared with a STANDARD Supertrend, "Super Smart" is not radically different, but when it does differ it is almost always better. All this is substantiated by backtesting of course.
BATTLE OF THE SUPERTRENDS
How good is SUPER SMART SUPERTREND? You can decide for yourself. I ran backtests on 8 Supertrend strategies I found here at Tradingview (sample results posted above). I set my charts to use Heikin Ashi candles as these seem to improve Supertrend in general. These comparisons were the best 8 I could find and I commend each author/coder for their fine work. I was not trying to out-do any one, I just wanted to improve my trading results. I'm also rather sure some other strategy will eventually out perform Super Smart Supertrend. And if they do, great! I believe in making more money, not making more indicators!
I tested all of the scripts found here:
www.tradingview.com
I used the timeframes of 15 minutes, 1 hour and 4 hours (as published above) . And I used the default settings built-in to each script strategy and again, with Heikin Ashi candles. I fully understand that you can tweak the settings on any Supertrend strategy and get different results.
I hope you have as much fun with this "BATTLE OF THE SUPERTRENDS" as I had creating it. But at the end of the day, I hope you install and try one of my indicators in the very near future and try the Supertrend indicators by these other authors (linked above).

What is an Hard Exit ? and a few notes on trading managementHi everyone
Today I'm traveling so can't really share a script because A) it's not coded B) I'm tired C) no inspiration today so instead, I'll be spreading a bit of wisdom (if I may call it like that)
I see a lot of traders out there solely depending on two main signals to exit a position :
1) A signal in the opposite direction
2) A stop loss to exit a position (fixed, or trailing)
Those two points are a very good practice but what if you could exit a position before "sh*t will hit the fan" (pardon my french).
For instance, you enter a trade, you see it's going against you, you're down 2% and your stop-loss is only a few % more away.
Thanks to your experience, you know that when one of your trade goes down below a given threshold, it will wreck (= rekt in crypto terminology) you even deeper with a high probability. Obviously, sometimes it will, sometimes it won't and you'll never figure out the right stop loss level to handle all the edge cases...
Let's now introduce the concept of a hard exit . What is it exactly? In short (no pun intended.... actually yes it was...), now thanks to your experience, you know that whenever a given indicator gives an opposite signal, you'll have to exit your trade if you don't have a positive trade balance. If positive, you know, that you should either set your stop loss to breakeven (entry-level of your trade) or exit it completely.
When such a scenario happens, maybe sometimes, it's better to exit a trade completely when you have that signal before going to bed...
Hands up anyone who took a trade before sleeping, thinking they'll wake up way richer and finally discovered they got margin called? or lost way too much money because their stop loss wasn't hit because that mean broker decided to use the "SUPER WRECKING SLIPPAGE" function to go beyond your stop loss... Your stop loss is looking at those candlesticks going above and doesn't understand what's going on...
The example in the screenshot is very interesting. Let's assume a very simple strategy using the supertrend. When it's green, we go long, when it's red, you go..... (finish it)
You noticed that the MACD Zero Lag will often allow you to exit the position before your stop loss will be hit and before the trade will go in the opposite direction. Sometimes, it won't save you any $$ doing so... but most of the time it will save you a few % of capital per trade and this will add up very quickly. (imagine saving a few percents or capital per trade multiplied by dozens of trades)
I'm not advising to use the correlation between the Supertrend and the MACD Zero Lag here. This is just an educational example :)
Warren Buffett said this: “Rule No. 1: Never lose money. Rule No. 2: Never forget rule No.1”.
We all believe we're smarter than the average but 95% of us is losing on the market... this doesn't add up :) 95% is losing... let that sinks in.
Does it mean that most of the things you read on Trading Twitter about guys taking leveraged trades and waking up with a brand new Lamborghini might be a fake story? (rhetoric question)
Am I saying that you should close your trades before sleeping if not already winning? (rhetoric question again)
"But sir I'm sure of those trades, I know the market, I'll be promised to go to the Valhalla by John McCaffee if I hold this XVG, XRP and TRX positions" (no one actually told me this that way but that's what I hear when someone finds reasons to keep losing trades overnight/over weekends)
Those people generally have a plan in mind and they want to stick with it. Either because they're scared to exit and to see then their trade going in the desired direction... or because they're too stubborn. And even then, if you have a system giving you a few signals and you count on each of them to pay your rent.... you're doing that trading thing wrong my friend
Either way, you have the choice between not losing or risking to lose big but maybe winning when you'll wake up. The best traders I know constantly doubt, optimize their strategies but never assume the market will favor them, not even once. However when they see a great potential profitable setup with an amazing Risk:Reward, they know that's with those trades, they'll have to go real BIG (betting the house, the wife, the kids, the car, ...) but certainly not with the already losing trades and hedging before sleeping ... (who...came up with those expert advisors using martingale during sleeping hours...very dangerous... )
If you wonder who I am to give all those lessons and scripts.
I worked in a bank alongside traders for years, and I saw hundreds of traders/investors losing everything and I mean they lost more than their trading capital.
This is truly sad because trading is a psychological game between you and the casino (market). We surely have more hedge than playing cards in a casino for sure thanks to technical analysis and that's why I got so deep into TA 6 years ago, made it a full-time job in a bank and learned everything I could to secure my trades/investments and become an emotionless machine when trading.
That's why I made the Algorithm Builder, to remove most of the psychological aspect. This made my own and my clients' trading way more enjoyable.
More to come about it tomorrow or the day after.
Wishing you a great end of your day
Dave
