Italy imports mostly mineral fuels, oils, distillation products transport; base metals and metal products; chemicals; textiles, clothing, leather and accessories; food, beverages and tobacco; machinery and equipment; computers, electronic and optical devices; pharmaceutical, chemical-medicinal and botanical articles. Main import partners are Germany (16 percent of the total imports); France (9 percent); China (7 percent); the Netherlands (6 percent); Spain (5 percent); Belgium and the US (4 percent each); Russia, the UK, and Switzerland (3 percent each).
