The Photographic Products segment manufactures and sells interchangeable lenses for single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras. The Optical Components segment develops and markets camcorder lenses, digital still camera lenses, cellular phone camera lenses, and optical device units. The Commercial and Industrial-Use Optics segment includes the lenses for closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and automotive lenses. The company was founded by Takeyuki Arai on November 1, 1950 and is headquartered in Saitama, Japan.
