Use an Input From Another Indicator With Your Strategy

Jul 16, 2020

We’re happy to announce that you now have the ability to use an indicator’s output as a data source for calculating a strategy. This allows you to delegate some of the calculations of a strategy to another script. You could, for example, use a separate study to calculate entry and exit conditions and process them in your strategy.

External inputs for strategies work the same way they do for studies:

  • They can be configured from the chart or from a script’s Settings/Inputs.
  • Only one external input can be used at a time by the strategy.
  • The strategy must contain only one input() call using the input.source type.
  • The external input used must be a plot from a study script.

Our solution page explains how to connect a strategy to an external input.
