What recession? Priceline breaks out!

Recession in bricks & mortar businesses!

Down with the retail real estate holders like Walmart ( WMT             ), Kohls             ( KSS             ), Whole Foods ( WFM             ), Michael Kors (KORS), Coach ( COH             ), and Target ( TGT             ) and UP WITH Amazon ( AMZN             ), Priceline ( PCLN             ), GOOG             ( Alphabet             ), Nike             ( NKE             )... and those that don't directly deal with the consumer using retail commercial real estate.

This is the story the stock market is telling us, should we choose to listen.

Don't count on the "market" to carry you to safety financially. Rather, you need to pick the right trends in the economy and be invested in the right sectors.

If you look back to 2014, you will see that I scoffed at the valuation that Priceline had and pointed out some very low risk shorting opportunities. However, since then, PCLN             has regained its footing and has ramped back up again.

Let's take a closer look at the fundamentals next.

LOL, the recession is exactly why more travelers are using Priceline. They need to find discounts! The overall trend is without the high cost of retail brick and mortar stores, and employees, and relying on technology to save human resource costs, these tech businesses are improving their bottom line. BTW, whenever I shop at Walmart, they have 22 cash registers, but only 3 of them open. If they would start automating the shopping process and deliver groceries from the local store, it would kill amazon due to cheaper shipping, if they had the logistics savvy for local delivery. Ha, being a analyst is fun!

So true. Sometimes we just need an index of "bricks and mortar" retail versus "internet retail" and plot the difference. I remember investing heavily in Egghead Software when they went internet-only. It was the wild-west back then. EGGS. Anyone else remember trading that stock?

This is a GIANT "Cup & Handle" formation... unless it fails we will call it something else! But, I can alert you to this pattern before you see it in Investors Business Daily and trumpeted by the financial media in the coming days and weeks.

That's what is great about TradingView: We can share our points of view and both get valuable perspective. I didn't buy PCLN on this breakout, but I watched it closely to help me determine what is going on in the market. Thanks for your perspective Reekardo.
