Tesla Lives On - Long Live Jean West

1541 17 21
Tesla             survived the weekend (reinvigorated by the stock 2ndary last week at $242), unlike my mother Jean West who passed away in peace Sunday holding her son's hand and let go of her life to join her adoring husband, my Dad, in heaven. I hope that you all get to enjoy life the way my mother did and the generous way she loved and supported all of those she came in contact with.

I wish you all of the great success in investing (and trading) that my family has experienced in our lifetimes and take a moment to be grateful for the incredible gifts we all have received, including the technology we have at our fingertips, designed and built by the amazing TradingView team here.

Forever grateful,

Tim, thanks for the analysis. I would like to get your take on decreasing PS ratio as the company grows. Eventually, the PS will come down to the average which is currently 0.5 for the auto industry. One would assume that the trading range would keep ratcheting down and we may have already seen the peak in the stock. the average car company is worth in the 25 to 50 billion today and these are mature companies. the largest is Toyota and even if we assume that if tesla will replace them 10 years from now and discount it for risk we could not come up with substantially a significant multiple.

You can look at MSFT as an example too. Since Tesla has 3-4 times the profit margins and is really a software company too, I think it will take on an entirely different "trajectory" than the other auto companies and take a much slower descent in PSR and hold at a much higher level, perhaps 3 times - 4 times higher multiple. The Model-3 could generate tremendous sales in 5-10 years and imagine their platform could be selling 500,000-1,000,000 cars per year. If Tesla can produce enough batteries, which they have a factory that currently can receive a railroad car full of raw material and the factory can produce lithium batteries with very little human intervention. These are the levels of scale that are being built into Tesla and speak volumes to me about the future value of Tesla. If you simply wrote at the money calls for the next 12 months for the next three years, I think your returns would be decent and in the area of 20% return while the company builds up critical mass and builds more demand as people slowly change their way of thinking about the current restrictiveness of limited range on electric batteries.
