if you think lines drawing are kids stuff, then you have under-estimated its power. Lines are merely a tool and like a paint brush, some can draw beautiful paintings that provide much pleasure, peace and admiration for the world to see while others cringe on the thought of drawing.
Nothing has changed, it is still a paint brush or lines drawing in the chart for this matter. Selling or seeing red is nothing to do with cruelty, slaughtering bulls and what have you. These are merely words and phrases coined by people to make news sensational.
Chart drawing can be boring but to the artist, it is more than lines but a reflection of people's moods, values, attitudes towards risk, money, aspirations in life and much more. It is so rich and diverse that one can stare at a chart like staring at Mona Lisa picture for hours. Each time you see it , it tells you a different story.
