USDJPY: Trading with Price Action & Fibonacci Tools (VIDEO)

FX:USDJPY   U.S. Dollar/Japanese Yen
Hey traders, sorry for being away all week but I needed to get away from some of the negativity that exist on these social sites and concentrate fully on what matters most TRADING. The chart above is of a trade we took on the USDJPY             this week using nothing more than the fundamental skills of reading a price chart and using the Fibonacci ratio tools.

Obviously explaining the trade would mean numerous paragraphs so to make things easier, I just recorded a video. Enjoy and hopefully I’ll be back on tradingview next week. We’ll see, I love sharing ideas with you guys and helping you out but I must admit, being away has been refreshing.

Thanks, I was once told that the more haters you have the better it means you're doing. It just takes a lot of energy not to say what i really want to say, so I just had to get away for a while. i try my best to ignore as much as I can, but every once in a while it builds up.

Stay positive my friend. What they say should have no effect on your daily life. If you need to be away from this site, you will be missed. They can criticize all they want, it should never effect the man you are. Know yourself, everyone else can take a hike if they don't like it. I don't see them posting anything to back their posts. Haters? You got haters? That's the price of FAME, dude! Look at it for a positive point of view. Coz' that's what we do as traders...turn negatives (losses) into positives (gains)! It's when you start receiving hate mail that you know you've MADE IT! LOL! Famous and successful people don't get haters/stalkers until they are famous and successful! You might need to start hiring bodyguards! Keep up the faith and turn the other cheek!

You've got haters?? Haven't seen a more likable man than you! Always positive and eager to help others reach their trading goals. And you are consistantly profitable, so what's the problem? As previously mentioned here, haters hate because of their own shortcomings. I have a lot of shortcomings when it comes to trading, but choose to learn from you instead of hating and posting negative comments. You've earned my respect to put it like that. Focus on your many followers that love what you do instead.

Akil youre the man, don't even pay attention to haters and trolls and their pathetic comments. Idiots that don't have anything better to do - how boring must they be!! Please don't stop being as awesome as you are! Please keep going on this and other forums mate. Trading has been very tricky last quarter. Surely many traders have struggled and so they become desperate and some even downright NASTY! Fuck them and lets focus on this next quarter and make some good $

I have no idea why people feel the need to go and bash others. Didn't your momma teach you that if you've got nothing good to say about others, best to keep your mouth shut! Why? Why the need to go and say some BS? Like you are SO much better with less than 100 followers and less than 30 posts! That's really PROVING you are a good trader yourself, right? Hot air. Sheesh! If you aren't here to help, then go somewhere else! Don't need bashers here. This is so far been a good community of people. Really don't need haters here.

I agree, this has been one of the roughest summers I've faced. I don't use any other forums as I generally think they're a horrible place fore traders to be, but I've actually been extremely impressed by the traders here on this site. For the most part they're really knowledgeable

IMO the biggest problem in general (in case of all forums and also this site) is to learn, how to filter out all those people which are not worth any second of your life, from those who may actually have something interesting to say - keep up the good job

I agree, I had a facebook group a few years ago that was setup for traders to talk and share ideas, unfortunately the same thing happened. people started coming in and teaching stuff that didn't make sense and a lot of new traders were getting hurt. I'll tell you what, at least here on tradingview the admins do an excellent job of monitoring those who cross the line with there comments and removing them if necessary. But hey that's the world we live in.

In this industry, I think you have to have your guard up. Unfortunately there is a lot of false information out there and even worse a lot of people trying to sell you junk. My advice, if you ever hear traders talk about selling you a strategy that "doesn't take any work" or can "double your account" in any short amount of time, then it's probably a scam. Don't get me wrong there are some great traders that can do so (with the right money management system in place) but most professional traders will tell you that if you can consistently average 2-5% a month then you're doing great and to get to that level it typically takes years of struggling and figuring things out.

I will certainly be getting as much as I can out of the information that is out there for free, however. That's simply because I can hardly afford the internet I'm using to send this reply, not because I don't believe you have valuable information. I would love to have a mentor, and I would pay money for that. I'm just going to learn as much as I can without spending anything for now.

The price of education cannot be measured the way the previous poster said about NEVER PAY FOR EDUCATION. You will pay for education one way or another. But the smart way, to pay for a mentor, will save you so much money in the long run. If you try to leanr on your own, you'll pay A LOT more to the most unforgiving mentor of them all: the market. I guarantee that. I know. From personal experience. A proper mentor can save you from yourself. The guy who said you can learn all you need from just the "free" material on the internet? Is that possible? Sure. You can learn the ABC's. But who's going to teach you how to apply that knowledge properly? Try it yourself, and again...you'll pay the market. Since trading is a zero-sum game, who knows, maybe you're gonna be paying it to someone like me!

I don't know your own educational background but think of it this way. You can learn all about math or physics just from the free research you can do on the internet. So why does anybody bother going to school anymore? Why does anybody bother paying for college education anymore? There's a lot more to learning than just knowing the ABC's of whatever you are wanting to learn. And to be able to pick the brain of someone who has already paid his way through making the EXPENSIVE mistakes and who can help you to avoid making those same mistakes....PRICELESS! I started trading in the days way before there was such a thing as the internet. I paid tens of thousands of dollars to the unrelenting master called the "market". What I wouldn't have given to have avoided all that pain by having a mentor! Now, I'm not endorsing anyone here. But from what I know of Akil and Jason, they are two of the most upfront, tell-it-like-it-is, no BS teachers I know of. So just take that for what it's worth. Yes, there are A LOT of scammers out there but these 2 are not one of them.

I understand if you don't really have the money to pay for some proper education and mentorship but if you are trading with real money now, I'll bet you are not making it very well on your own. And if you are trading real money, I would suggest you stop and spend that money on proper education. It'll be money WELL SPENT! GUARANTEED!

I'm definitely not using real money at the moment. Just a demo account for now.
I hear you on the pricelessness of having a mentor to guide you through the pitfalls and to help you get you to where you need to be much more efficiently than you could on your own. I just have to do what I can without the money. I also noticed over time that I really am not a fan of the way Akil trades. He seems to use complicated indicators that I have no interest in.
I was actually introduced to Forex about 4 years ago. The man that introduced me to Forex was a co-worker of mine. We were both security guards. Funny thing was that he traded while at work on the work computers.
Anyways, his method of trading was extremely simple - Price Action, Support and Resistance with some help of Fibonacci levels. He traded mostly trend reversals. He was, and still is, extremely consistent with the same techniques regardless of the changes in the market.
I got really used to that and I've preferred that ever since. So I simply don't think I would be enjoying myself in the trade rooms with Akil because I would simply be uninterested in the trades he was taking or the methods he was using for those trades.
I have heard, however, that Jason Stapleton trades trend reversals. If that's true, I wouldn't mind looking into his techniques.

Now, again on the issue of paying for Mentorship.. I have been doing research on Forex for nearly 4 years. So far, I have noticed that I haven't even scratched the surface of education I can get on Price Action alone. I do believe that one of my only choices at the moment is to take that education and put it to use on a demo account (as I have already been doing though). Sure, having a mentor would be great, but that option isn't open to everyone in this country. Some people seem to forget what the word "poverty" means.

I agree with you about the need to find the trading style that suits you. If the trading style, no matter how successful it might be, doesn't feel right to you, you'll be struggling against yourself a lot of times on whether to take a trade or not. Again, I'm not endorsing Akil or Jason. Just endorsing mentorship.

I understand what poverty means. If you saw the place I grew up in, you'd know. The place I grew up in would've been considered too dangerous to live in and could've easily have been condemned by health and safety inspectors! So I understand the problem of paying for mentorship or training. But starting with a demo account is the right thing to do. Ask questions here. Most of us "seasoned" vets here don't mind answering questions given the time availability to do so. Remember, we're traders too and must spend a lot of our time trading! But when you can afford it, I highly recommend it. Good luck!

Again, sorry, Akil for hijacking your thread! I seem to do that too much!

I think the most important thing about trading is finding a system/strategy that fits your personality. With all of the mental battles that you'll go through the last thing you want to do is have doubt start to creep into your mind because you don't full trust what you're doing. It starts with belief. Once you fully believe you'll continue to take the right actions, once you start taking the right actions you'll start to see the results that you desire, and once you see those results the belief in your way of trading will continue to grow. Also, I'm a non indicator trader, the only thing I use is the relative strength index for oversold and overbought conditions. Indicators are lagging which never sat well with me. I'd much rather read price action and have that tell me what the market is likely to do next than wait for an indicator to tell me after the move is halfway complete.

Education is great, and being able to work with someone who has already made the mistakes themselves and can guide you through them significantly reduces the learning curve, but please don't think that you can't be successful on your own. All you need in this game is a single strategy with a positive expectancy and the mental ability to trade that strategy consistently over time.

Simple, unfortunately just not easy. In my opinion the difficult part isn't coming up with a system or strategy that works, it's coming into the market each and everyday and executing it consistently, especially when those periods of drawdown occur. That's when most trades fail because the lose trust in themselves and their system and bounce to the next big thing
