I hate BTC kiddos as much as you do.

But I can't deny it is a profitable asset.

With that said, I wonder how its future will be. So far it stands well as an alternative asset more than a currency; not much can be bought with it directly still. Transfer USD to BTC to grow, then BTC to USD to spend. Rinse & repeat.
Also, in a "green" future, as many of us now promote (I'm an avid fisherman and weekend camper, of course I'm behind it), would the continuation and expansion of crypto-currency mining even make sense? Burning energy + costly materials to essentially create nonexistent value. Give it a quick thought.

Cryptocurrency takes an exponentially greater amount of energy (renewable-ish) and limited material (the gaming and computing industry hate crypto miners more than anything lol) to generate what is essentially an intangible object.

Unlike real currency or commodities, there isn't much currently justifying that generation. Even if we were to adopt them in a mainstream fashion, as an alternative to USD or just a switchover entirely, they would result in even a great amount of aforementioned resources being burned for crypto generation.

Arguably, cryptocurrencies are the most unsustainable and unrenewable asset. Meh. I respect it, but wouldn't want to put too much riding on it.
