Indian Govt has formed a committee to explore legalizing Cryptocurrency as legal tender
Amid reports of the rising presence of bitcoins and other forms of virtual currencies in India, Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Thakur on Saturday said the government has formed a High-Level Inter-Ministerial Committee to look into cryptocurrency, and based on its recommendations the government may present a legislative proposal in Parliament.
"Blockchain is a new emerging technology. A cryptocurrency is a form of digital currency. I firmly believe that we must always evaluate, explore and encourage new ideas with an open mind," said the MoS while answering a media query about cryptocurrency at an event in Punjab.
He added that a High-Level Inter-Ministerial Committee was constituted by the central government to accept cryptocurrency as a lawful and legal tender in India.

MicroStrategy buys another $10 million in bitcoin and adds up to $4.4 billion
MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor announced today that the company has purchased 205 Bitcoins for about $ 10 million.
The company, which bought $1 billion in Bitcoin last month, now has a total of 91,064 Bitcoins, paying a total of $ 2.19 billion for that amount.

The latest to introduce bitcoin payments is Thailand's largest operator of movie theatres, Major Cineplex Group.
The company has introduced this in collaboration with local crypto exchange Zipmex and lo digital payment start-up RapidZ. The cryptocurrency feature has already been debuted at Bangkok's Major Cineplex Ratchayothin movie theatre on March 4.
Customers were able to purchase movie tickets using Bitcoin via RapidZ by simply scanning a QR code.
